I have been a loyal customer since this location was called Darling (8+ yrs ago). I used to look forward to the weekends, waking up early and sipping my latte slowly while conversing with a friend. Loved the friendly, homey vibe the employees gave which fit in perfectly as a community spot. Now however, every single time I visit there's someone with an attitude. Sundays are the worse. The cashier will actually not greet you and continue doing what they are doing as if you are a nuisance. Having someone with an attitude every morning in the weekend is exhausting, especially to a place that used to be such a great location for the community. The ambiance is hostile with degrading music which includes offensive language. I have given this place 1 year to change and it has just gotten worse. I moved my business, together with my recommendations to my friends to Kuro Kirin Espresso & Coffee...only 2.5 blocks away, this location has friendly employees and amazing Coffee!!! Exactly what Bruunni USED to be. If you want a total coffee experience, do not come to Buunni, this place is not a proper representation of Inwood. The more the community supports this behavior the more they are encouraged to continue with their bad service. Our community...
Read moreBuunni Coffee, located on Pinehurst Avenue, is so adorable! I recently came to visit to grab an afternoon coffee and stayed to do some work on my laptop. The staff are really kind & efficient, my vanilla latte came out quickly and tasted delicious! The store patrons I ran into were really nice as well - we all did some shuffling at the one large table they have inside so everyone who came in groups could sit by one another. For a small shop, the place is pretty accommodating for people to be able to work inside while having their coffee + bite to eat.
My only complaint is that it can get a little chilly inside when it's cold out because a rush of icy air busts in each time someone opens the door to enter/exit. Just something to be aware of when you come visit, particularly if you plan to stay & enjoy your coffee. I'm sure during the warmer months, the breeze is welcome. Regardless of this tiny con, this place is 100% worth a visit with all of the pros in mind. :-)
Quickly, on a final note: if the cold air is something you're worried about during the winter months, they also have a little covered patio out front, which I believe is heated! There is a cute book exchange located out front as...
Read moreCoffee: It's a great cup of coffee. Had 2 cappuccinos with Oat Milk. Very tasty. What one would expect from an artisan coffee shop.
Other Offerings: They have a small but nice selection of pastries and cakes, including gluten free options. Had the banana loaf and it was different and good.
Location: Excellent location in Washington Heights. Its lovely to have a coffee shop of this caliber in the neighbourhood. It is small on the inside so I wouldn't go there to hang out or catchup, but with post-pandemic seating outside, this aspect is better.
Service: Service was lovely and fast.
The reason for one less star is the price. Almost $13 for 2 oatmilk cappuccinos? Wowza.
We live in London now (I'm originally from Washington Heights) and we stayed in 5 different neighborhoods in our 4 week NY visit, including by Central Park and by Bryant Park, and these were the most expensive coffees...
