Carbsoul has been open for more than a week now and my sister decided to take me here for dinner as a late birthday celebration.
This restaurant offers traditional American and Caribbean fare. Please see food and drink menu in pictures
As usual, we sat at the bar and ordered rum punch to get the night started. Beware, the rum punch will knock you off your feet as it is made with overproof rum. The kitchen got off to a slow start so our bartender, Courtney, offered us free appetizers of cod fish fritters. We were also pleased to know that our rum punch was on the house.
I decided to take a walk through the restaurant, and I was impressed with the layout and how spacious and inviting the place felt . At the back, there is outdoor seating, which will be used during the summer months
From the menu, I decided to order oxtails while my sister and her girlfriend opted for the lamb chops. The meal is paired with white rice and mixed vegetables.
Big compliments go out to the chef, who prepared and presented the meal in a professional way. We were all pleased with the taste and flavor. My oxtail was soft and tender, and almost falling off the bone. Equally so, my sister and her girlfriend enjoyed their lamb chops.
At 7 PM-ish the DJ shows up played hits of reggae, Dancehall and Soca. This certainly set the mood right and we asked our bartender to keep the drinks flowing.
Please accept this invitation to try CaribSoul Trust me you will love the food and...
Read moreAs residents of Prospect Heights, we were looking forward to visiting this new establishment. To say the very least, an utter shock and grave disappointment.
I stopped by and placed a take out order. To my shock and dismay, I was hit with a 20% service fee, and for what? Take out? Such a charge and no mention, or fine print of the charge.
The food protions were uncommonly small, and something in the ingredients gave me an allergic reaction.
I asked to speak with the manager and was told that he was not available. The woman that took my order appeared regrettable for the cost and said that she wanted to make an adjustment for the service fee, but I was informed that Brian, the manager had programed the register system to automatically bill customers, without their knowledge/consent for a service fee.
It's not logical nor a very nice way to introduce a new business to a neighborhood that one hopes will support a food business that caters to customer service.
I returned home and called back for the manager and left word for Brian, the manager, but he never called back.
The food, the experience, and the poor customer are unacceptable deliverables and boarders on a mentality of short-sightedness, greed, and...
Read moreNot going to lie, at first I was going to leave but my friend said let’s try so I did. My friend had the salmon and I had the snapper. When I tell u, it was great just know it tasted great as good if not better than some specialty dining. I genuinely prefer the snapper it was the first thing I had and it was sooo good I came back and had it again.
The bar tender, Nesha, is great I think she is one the main reason we came back. She was friendly, welcoming and made me feel like I know her all my life. She gave us such a great experience at Carib soul . The DJ was amazing. He had the patrons going with his different genre of music.
Come over and give them a try this definitely my...
