Completely looked over my note, let’s start with the Mangu, usually it doesn’t come with yuca unless you ask for that which I clearly didn’t. I quickly realized that when I had 3 forks full of plantins, I went through the eggs a bit & there’s a finger tip size egg shell on the side of the egg, glad I didn’t bite into it. The Yaroa was kinda burnt I asked for ground beef instead of chicken with the sauce on the side because I’m not sure how the chicken was going to be but since my notes were overlooked, I had a feeling about it & I was right, I bit into a small bone which l couldn’t even finish eating after.

The food is great. They give you are large portions of food, which will definitely last for or week or more depending on how you eat and can resist the temptation of the yellow rice, plaintains, and beans. The beans alone I will gladly eat without hesitation. They recently renovated the restaurant and so the food is towards the rear as opposed to the front. I usually go mid-afternoon hardly any wait and the servers are friendly. You have the option of eating in or taking out. Good Food option in Pelham Bay.

Went for a slice of flan. They advertise it for $5. Asked me for $5.40! I show them their own website page showing it for $4. Their reaction. Deny me service and returned my $5, one employee telling the other “The client doesn’t dictate the price, we do.” They didn’t lose $4, but a lifelong of orders from me, friends & family, plus anyone else i can share my story with. When people wonder why business continue to close, this is one reason.

When you go in, they don't seat you so you just grab a table n they bring you the menu (fyi- no bread or anything to pick on while you wait for your food, so if you're really hungry order apps). We ordered the Hawaiian shrimp n salmon and pork chop n shrimp, everything was yummy. The waitress was nice but too soft spoken (almost couldn't hear her) and not too attentive, I asked for lime for my pork chop (which is typically customary whenever you order pork chop)- never got it. When we finished, she cleared the table but never asked if we wanted desert nor brought us our check. Walked up front to pay and looked at my bill and noticed an extra drink I never ordered, told the guy n he called her over to verify (our order came to $54 and the drink was $2- not a big deal but I understand the need to verify), she stared at me for a couple of seconds and then told him to remove it. I went here once before and it looks like they revamped everything the interior looks BEAUTIFUL and I believe they updated their menu too. Overall not bad, hopefully next time we get a...

The food is mediocre at best and insanely expensive. I walked in to dine with my mother, she ordered a lunch (plate) of oxtail which fine is $20. I ordered a mofongo. We both got passion fruit juices, we also got a side of tostones and I ended up ordering the empanada "special" (3 empanadas) to go. Somehow it made $72.20 before tip. I don't know in what world 2 plates of food that per their menu was $20, 2 juices, a single side of fried plantains and an empanada special that was advertised as $6 amounted to $72. If the food had been worth it maybe the sting of getting ripped off would have been less but unfortunately the food was mid at most. Everything made it to our table lukewarm, the mofongo was cold in the center and tasted awful I ended up not eating it. The rabo meal was okay but again lukewarm at most and had been sitting out all day which granted we knew, the tostones were super hard, dry and cold by the time they were were brought to us. Overall every single time I come to this place I regret my choice but this time took the cake....

If there was an option for no stars, i would give this place that. Horrible customer service. The so called "manager" did not treat me with respect when talking me compared to his Spanish speaking customers. I waited over an hour for them just to make yellow rice after them giving away the rice that i had ordered. The manager had a major attitude when i asked him after 45 mins of standing there was The rice ready he even told me that i could leave. The female servers laughed behind the glass and talked about me in Spanish to each other thinking i didn't understand. They should not be allowed to run a restaurant at all with such horrible customer service and no respect for their customers. I was so upset after leaving out of there that i lost my appetite. I will NEVER spend my hard earned money there again and i will spread the word and make an even bigger complaint with the Better...
