So, here’s the deal. cloudM Bowery is a beautiful rooftop bar located at the citizenM hotel. The food is fairly priced and the expensive drinks are delicious. So what’s the problem? Why the 1 star review. Here’s why: the gatekeeping “bouncer” type person that they have greeting people in the lobby is your typical snobby “this place is too trendy for you type” if you book through Seated, he denies the validity of you reservation, claiming they do reservations exclusively through Resy. The problem with that though is he is wrong. seated has a partnership with CitizenM Hotel that the host in the lobby is unaware of. But he will still act as if he knows what he is talking about when he claims that your reservation is invalid but that he will make an exception for you because he is such a cool guy. But don’t be fooled, folks. The host in the lobby is nit a cool guy. He is an abrasive, typical trendy-bar, gate-keeping type guy that should have a stern lesson in hospitality.l management. If it wasn’t for the views, this place would be just another expensive hotel tourist trap playing itself off as new york’s next big club, when its just basically a glorified hotel bar with nothing but dudes working there who wear shirts that are two sizes too small with zero muscle definition (which would make anyone loose their appetite anyway, so skip this place). They also didn’t honor my Seated credit and i had to complain to get it. What a bunch...
Read moreProbably my funniest random find in NYC. Was supposed to go to a rooftop birthday party but we ended up on the wrong hotel and the wrong rooftop. My friends found a table and I guess I have to stay especially it not crowded for now and the view is amazing.
This place looks fairly new as the bartender is carrying out cups in cardboard boxes and the process isn't as refined. To start, we grab a random table outside and it feels like a park on top of a building. View is amazing with bunch of Lounge chairs and outdoor bar. Seating seems like free for all.
Food is fancy Chinese food and I don't have the desire or will to try any this time or maybe ever. Imagine Chinese takeout packaged in a fancy tiny takeout container. I will never know how it taste like but I will assume it is just like the $6 takeout near my home.
Drinks on the other hand is what we here for. They got cocktail and mocktail or grown up juice. Price isn't back for a rooftop with the view. Table service isn't available yet but you can ask. They will run by here or there. It's better to just walk into the bar inside or outside. We had both mocktail on the menu and they are delicious even we can probably make at home with simple ingredients.
Overall this is a five star and definitely worth a visit than any...
Read moreTheir reservations process makes no sense. We were celebrating a birthday on a Monday and wanted to go bar hopping. On Resy, you can only reserve a spot for up to 6 people - we were about 15. We tried calling the bar many times earlier in the day to ask if they could reserve something for us and they never picked up the phone. Later that night, we decide to go and see if they have enough space for us since it's a Monday and probably quiet. We were stopped immediately by the front desk and told that we needed a reservation to even go up. We tried explaining to them that we couldn't book on Resy because of the party size and no one picked up the phone, but all they kept saying was "You need to have a reservation." They need a better excuse/plan/process because that is just ridiculous. And looking at some of the more recent reviews, it seems like we would've had a tough time even IF we had a reservation. They would've made so much money off our group on a quiet day - oh well. Hit up any of the other amazing rooftop bars in NYC and pass...
