Visited this establishment after 11pm this past Saturday evening. First off we loved the fact that they were open until 3:00am! It’s a little hole in the wall by the way. It’s not a dine-in establishment by any stretch of the word. I ordered the oxtails, yams & collards with smoked turkey. I have to be honest, the oxtails are not visually appealing, but they sure do give you a lot of them. If you’re looking for traditional “island” style oxtails with brown gravy — this is not for you. Once I got past the physical appearance I dove in and they were actually delicious!!! Not one “tail” went to waste!!! The yams were like eating a sweet potato pie as a side and the greens were well seasoned with that smoked turkey meat throughout! As a southern person of color —my only recommendation is they need to chop the collards up a little more fine — but they were dam good! Now my husband had the salmon, peas & rice and yams!!! He loved it all and had ZERO complaints which rarely ever happens because he’s a habitual complainer! 🤣 Last but not least—don’t leave this place without getting the banana pudding! Bae-bay it was good as HELL! I have to believe the pudding was hand spun by the devil himself in that kitchen— because it’s sinfully good!!! We’ll definitely be back when we’re in town again; since it was in walking distance from...
Read moreIt's my first time eating there and I order from Ubereats. I order lamb, jerk pasta and corn. The food overall was bland. The jerk pasta I was expecting it to be spicy but it wasn't (because of the name). I didn't mind but it should just be called pasta. The corn had no taste. I did like that the lamb was cooked well and was tender but also didn't have taste. The sweet tai sauce couldn't save it either. The meal cost me $32.
Edit: May 2025 So I decided to give them another chance and got Salmon with lo mein and rasta pasta. The meal was good but the lo mein had a bitter taste and was oily.
Edit: May 30,2025 I was craving some salmon, so I decided to order for pick up. Even though I was hesitant, I tried the beans and rice. I did not like it at all and overall struggle to eat the food. The food is not consistent where some meals are better than others. Also bought a plate for my mother, and she was complaining about the portion size, which was small. She was right. She got the lomein and plantains with salmon. Even the empanadas was small but it did have...
Read moreHad food from Here a few times via Uber eats. First time was a 7/10. This time a 3/10. Consistency isn’t a strong point I suppose. This order was fried salmon with collard greens, yams, Honey butter cornbread. Salmon was moist on the inside, crust was good texture but in general not well seasoned. Collards were ok but basically whole. Like who doesn’t know how to pick greens?!? I don’t need 3-4 whole collard greens folded up to make it look like there’s more. Yams were good, not too sweet.
Now let’s get to this honey butter cornbread. I am a southern woman. And when I say I have NEVA, EVA tasted cornbread so disgusting in my life, believe me. It had some kind of glaze on top, couldn’t catch the flavor but had the consistency of a gel. Underneath was dry, hard baked cornbread. It was a monstrosity. They should be ashamed to call it cornbread. I threw that ish right in the trash. A $6 lesson.
Overall, it bothers me when everybody thinks they can cook soul food without putting soul into it. I won’t be ordering again. Disappointing and inconsistent for the...
