Dacks Cuisine — Restaurant in New York

I usually don’t do reviews at all so this experience took a lot out of me to do so.

After seeing many good things about their food on tik tok, me and my wife were so excited to try out their food. Little did we know it would be the worst experience we’ve ever encountered customer service wise.

Firstly, we knew it would be a smaller place due to the videos we’ve seen on tik tok but had no idea it would be AS small and tight in person. Besides that, we were still willing to sit and try their food which looks amazing but unfortunately never got to try (I’ll explain).

Secondly, we get to this place and when me and my wife walk in…no one welcomes us, greets us and we were awkwardly standing there waiting for a table for a good 4-5 mins. The atmosphere felt off and the workers seemed like they didn’t want to work or be bothered.

Then after 5 mins the lady from behind the bar sits us down. We finally sit down but with no menu once again for a good 5 mins. We then get our barcode for our menu after the lady behind the bar had to tell the waiter (who was right beside us the whole time btw) that we had no menu so he then puts it on the table for us.

After we get our barcode for our menu, after 5 mins (once again) we get asked if we wanted water in the mean time. Something that I believe should be asked/offered when a menu is brought to a customer right away.

Finally, after our water was served, we’re waiting a long time for someone to attend us to order our food. We then see 2 more parties after us come in and one of the parties were sitting next to us. The same lady behind the bar who sat us down first, walked right past our table and attended the customers who arrived after us instead. Then the other customers that came in AFTER us ALSO got attended to first… only because that customer had to say something to even get attended to.

So me and my wife STILL weren’t attended to order our food during all this and were so upset and disappointed that for the first time EVER in our lives, we walked out of the restaurant and went to another restaurant. I didn’t even drink my water and my wife took about 3 sips of hers. This happened last night and we’re still shocked about this.

Although the customer service is bad, I’m sure their food is delicious but we didn’t get to try unfortunately. I would still love to try their food despite this experience but will definitely be taking...

I saw this restaurant on Tik Tok and was really impressed by the reactions. However my boyfriend saw the reviews and was very skeptical. I said everyone has different standards let’s still try. Unfortunately, the reviews were correct. • The presentation of the yams were not the same as the picture I saw. My Rating -8/10 His Rating- 4/10

• The Mac and cheese had a weird after taste that I cannot describe and the appearance wasn’t appealing either. My Rating -2/10 His Rating- 1.5/10

• Fried chicken had nothing special about it. It was crispy and flaky. My Rating -8/10 His Rating- 5/10

• I got the Rasta pasta with jerk salmon. It was not flavorful. It was very creamy. The salmon itself was not seasoned and the jerk sauce was disgusting and a bit sweet. So it seeped onto the pasta giving the past a weird taste as well. However, the pasta did have a kick to it though. My Rating -1/10 His Rating- 1/10

• My boyfriend got the salmon Rasta pasta with shrimp. For whatever reason they fried both the salmon and the shrimp. It became soggy due to it being fried. He expected grilled shrimp/ salmon. He also said it wasn’t flavorful for the reasons I described in mine. My Rating -1/10 His Rating- 1/10

We’re from Jersey and he traveled to the Bronx for this on 7/5/24. When the server was asked her opinion between two different foods her response was “it’s all good.” That’s horrible customer service. Having worked in food previously I always gave my honest opinion. (I.e. i haven’t tried it, I don’t like this however I see a lot of people raving about this). She didn’t seem to care. Granted she was the only one person serving, taking orders , and answering the phone. He said there was one other person in the back cooking as well.

He waited 15 mins for my order to be taken and an hour for it to be ready/packaged.

For the chicken, yams, Mac & cheese, salmon rasta pasta, salmon w/shrimp rasta pasta costs $100

Overall opinion: horrible service, Over hyped , WAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAY OVER PRICED, NEVER COMING AGAIN AND WILL...

Never coming back here—EVER!

I traveled to this restaurant based on a TikTok recommendation, expecting something great, but I was so wrong. I arrived and was told there would be a bit of a wait for my order which was an hour, which I understood. I wanted to give them time, so I came back an hour and 15 minutes later. But the moment I walked in again, I knew this place wasn’t it.

I walked up to check on my order, and instead of professionalism, one of the ladies looked at me, her eyes got big, and she laughed as she walked to the back. That was my first red flag. I asked about my order, and she said it wasn’t ready yet and then laught again. She responded, “Hey,”Jamaican accent like I was interrupting her. Unbelievable.

Then the original lady who took my order finally came out to explain that they couldn’t fulfill it because they were missing an ingredient, but the chef would be back in 15 minutes. She asked if I could wait. I’d already been patient for this long, so I said yes.

Here’s the part that really got me: this was supposed to be a special birthday lunch for my 13-year-old son, who has autism and loves nachos and oxtail. I was trying to make his day memorable, and instead, this restaurant completely ruined it.

When the 15 minutes were up, I went back in—and STILL no food! At that point, I had reached my limit. Furious, I went back to my car and had to explain to my son that his birthday lunch wasn’t happening here because of their lack of service. They didn’t even bother to call me—though they had my number—to let me know about the delay or give me the option to cancel.

This restaurant needs to do better. They wasted my time, ruined a special moment for my son, and treated me with nothing but disrespect....
