I revisited this establishment for the second time this year, hoping for a better experience, but unfortunately, it was another letdown. Despite being a regular customer before the pandemic-induced changes, recent visits have shown a decline in service quality. Last night's encounter was particularly disappointing; we couldn't even get past finishing our water.
We took our seats in an almost empty restaurant, with only two other patrons present. Despite closing out with wine, we were left unattended for 10 minutes, and it became evident that the server was preoccupied with other tasks. She seemed disinterested in acknowledging us or the other patrons at the bar counter.
While waiting, we overheard staff members repeatedly reminding the server, in Spanish, that she had customers. Unfazed, she continued to ignore everyone, causing discussions among patrons about leaving quietly. Finally, after 15 minutes, she approached a young lady with questions, but the interaction was unproductive. Subsequently, she handed out menus and, with an attitude, inquired about our orders.
When I mentioned that we were there before the other ladies, she responded dismissively, assuming we knew what we wanted to drink and rolled her eyes. Shocked by the unprofessionalism, I decided we were no longer interested in staying. As I put my menu down and expressed our dissatisfaction, we left the establishment, followed by another lady who shared our sentiment.
As we walked away, we overheard the server talking about us to other patrons, adding to the disappointment. This experience, coupled with a noticeable decline in overall service since the arrival of this particular server, has led me to reconsider patronizing this establishment. I caution others against wasting their time here. Numerous other Italian places offer exceptional customer service, quality food, and more reasonable prices. I wouldn't recommend stepping foot in this place unless you enjoy rude service and extended wait times, even when you're the only patron present. To the server with the dismal customer service, I hope this feedback prompts improvement or reconsideration of your...
Read moreI heard about this restaurant by reading a profile of one of my favorite baseball players. It was mentioned that this is his favorite restaurant in NY to dine in. Since I am a big fan of the team he plays on as well, I wanted to give this place a try. Me and my wife decided to come here and make it a date night. I was a little nervous because my wife usually not convinced with my choice of restaurants. She agreed to come with me because:
Had a very disheartening experience. In short, the “chef”, Andrew Whitney was unprofessional and the “manager” Danir Rincon was incredibly rude and arrogant. He doesn’t even greet you. First, They served me raw pasta (not al dente); it was literally raw. (They are busy so I can imagine a mishap can happen but they got offended and approached it arrogantly). I was polite and explained this to the guy managing the area. He was unapologetic and rude but offered me another plate. I said sure. I then see the “chef” and the manger guy whispering and the chef says: “can’t please everyone!” He was immature and arrogant. Initially I had a bad vibe when the “manager” rudely told me to “push” the bar chair next to me in. In fact, at the end, the “manager” told me: “well, that wasn’t hard!” Also, the “chef” who is white was speaking loudly in a really bad stereotyped Mexican Spanish accent using derogatory terms jocularly to an employee. Yup, very professional. Also Tiny expensive portions. All hype. “Chef” thinks he’s perfect but yet works in a food hall putting out raw pasta. Acts like he’s owner/chef of Carbone but he forgets he works in a Cafeteria. Him and his co-owner Danir now forget to welcome customers and now treat them just like another annoyance in the path to meeting...
