One piece of my gold necklace broke off and I went here to get the necklace repaired. Irene was assigned to assist me. I pointed out the part that broke off and brought the piece with me. She weighed the necklace asked me to take a photo of it and said it should be done within an hour. She charged me $40 for the repair and asked how did I hear about Magnolia. I informed her that I'm a returning customer and that they had customized my wife's wedding band. I jokingly asked for a discount as a returning customer and she replied "I give you discount already! We normally charge $50 for repairs." That part threw me off but I paid it no mind. I came back after they called and noticed that the part broken was still not repaired. They acknowledged the part was not repaired and asked me to come back again in 45 mins. I opted to wait at the store this time. Shortly Irene gets a call from their jeweler who said that he had made the repair on another part of the necklace that was broken. I looked through the photos that I took as well as Irene took and did not find a second part that was broken. However, I believed them and asked for them to repair the initial part and that I would pay for extra piece of gold needed. Irene comes back with a .05g piece of gold and said that for the inconvenience she would charge me $50 for the piece and that she's selling me the piece at market price. That threw me off because the piece was so small so I pulled out my calculator to see the cost of .05g of gold. It came out to be $5. I asked her why my calculations showed such a huge difference and she said I entered it incorrectly. At this point I told her that they can just cut the necklace and combine the pieces. She said it would cost $20 for the services. I asked why is she charging me for labor when I had initially paid $40 already. She said the cost for repair is normally $35, and since I have a second part that needed repaired it would be a second fee. At this point I'm already upset because she originally said cost of repair is $50 and that she gave me a discounted price of $40, but apparently she already up sold me the original price of service which should have been $35 (who knows if that is even true). I paid her the $20 because at this point I just wanted the necklace repaired. They made the repair and there was one small link leftover at .06g. I decided to test Irene's honesty with her gold value and asked if I could sell her my piece for $50 since her .05g cost the same, and said I was willing to let it go at a lost. She tried to tell me it was better to just keep the piece for the future in case the necklace needed to be repaired again. I told her it's fine and asked how much she would give me for the piece. She pulled out a calculator and said less than $10. At this point I knew I would never come back here again and regretted giving them any business to begin with. The lack of respect and how they make up prices thinking their customers don't keep track of things that was said is just...
Read moreMy boyfriend proposed to me but let me pick out my own ring because I’ve always said I wanted to involve my mother in the process so that it is a bit unconventional “mother-daughter process”. My mom never had her own engagement ring and her wedding band is the most modest thin band, so I wanted her to be included in the process (so I could also surprise her with her own upgraded ring… but that’s another story).
Anyway, Magnolia was the first store we stopped by because my mom heard great things about them on the Chinese radio. I walked in and the amazing lady that helped me was Katy!
Katy is soft spoken and kind and so helpful! She spoke both English and and Canto. I told her I wanted something simple but I don’t know what style I liked. She was so patient with me and let me try almost everything. I had a budget in mind and because of her awesome service, I got the ring of my dreams within my limit.
Katy also helped suggested a custom design for a wedding band and gave me a discount if I bought it as a set with the engagement ring. I’m going to marry the man of my dreams, so buying as a bridal set was a no brainer if it came with a lucky discount!
Katy explained the process to me, explaining that the wedding band can be curved to hug the engagement ring but it will take a bit longer to complete. Which I’m okay with since I’m just newly engaged. And yet! The band was ready for me super fast and ahead of time!
Katy also threw in free engraving on both rings because I was set on having my partner’s name on the rings. Katy also provided me with GIA diamond certifications and showed me the branded numbers on the diamond itself under a microscope! I didn’t know the certificate serial number is literally on the diamond itself but she carefully explained everything to me. She also let me know that Magnolia will provide unlimited aftercare after the purchase as well. She said I can come in ever 3-4 months to have my rings cleaned and the prongs checked. I loved that Magnolia’s amazing service doesn’t end after I pay.
Overall, I had the most amazing experience and got 2 rings of my dreams at Magnolia Jewelry with the help of Katy.
(After I made my choice at Magnolia, I sneakily went to several other jewelry stores around the diamond district, just to compare. Not a single one of them came close to the service or value that Magnolia offered. I also did extensive research online and everything confirmed that I was given a very honest and competitive price. I am very certain Magnolia was the best decision for my engagement and...
Read moreAhh man where do I start? After a few tries with other jewelers, I was losing hope as I wasn’t able to find anything that I would’ve liked to propose to my fiancé with. After a Yelp search, Magnolia Jewelers populated on my search. After reading the reviews, I was convinced to go in and try my luck.
Before going in, I contacted Vince (the owner) and gave him everything I was looking for in the ring from the cut shape to a budget, GIA certificate and little did I know when I would go, he would have exceeded my expectations. Awesome staff, great service and real connection and care for their clients. Unlike other jewelers that just try to make a sale, Vince heard every one of my concerns through and helped me build the perfect ring I can propose with. He guided me through everything I needed to know about diamonds and to how to take care of it once received. He was able to manage the time line, the budget and most importantly the care he had for me as a client and made sure I was happy with the outcome. He provided step by step of the process of the ring to from the model to the finish. I left the shop smiling knowing Vince took care of everything I wanted. My fiancé absolutely loves and adores the ring. Vince made the whole experience fun for me that I thought would be dreadful. Beyond happy and excited with the outcome. And because of him, our day was just that much more special.
Vince has a great sense of taste and respect for the business he operates and his clients. He makes sure his clients leave the door smiling and content with their investments and he goes beyond his way to keep you up to date with the whole process. Would recommend one hundred and one percent to my friends and family. 11/10 overall just because of how well he and his staff treat their clients. If you’re ever in need for a ring or any jewelry needs for that matter. Vince at Magnolia Jewelers is...
