This has been the worst experience I have ever encountered at Dig Inn. I have ordered at Pine Street and Midtown East and have not received the amount of attitude and excuse me for the word but there is no other word that can describe how GHETTO the staff is. I don't know who is in charge of hiring these people but they need to carefully select people who aren't so uneducated and rude.
10/6/18 around Noon I step in the store and instantly hear loud laughing non-stop. I also hear music blasting like if it were a nightclub, no one asked me if I needed help, I assume I go to the counter were the food was and order. As I got to the counter I'm having trouble ordering because the staff can't hear me, I wonder why? as I screamed my order to the gentleman there was a guy part of the staff just standing there staring. I ordered Salmon Brown Rice Broccoli & Sweet Potatoes. The guy asked for Salmon and the chef said 2 minutes I said fine, boy those two minutes were so awkward with the staff just laughing and having loud conversations. The African-American young lady at the front register had this look in her face as in she wan't going to help me. She was quick to charge my card and dismiss me, while she laughed loudly and put lip gloss on while handling food. I would say this isn't the staff you pick for any retail store, you need people who are willing to help and know that people are very finicky when it comes to food. As the salmon came the food looked plopped and unorganized, wasn't escorted to the forks or bags, I literally was on my own. Worst Experience ever, as I opened my food when I got to work I noticed I wasted 14.00$ on trash. Salmon was raw in the middle! Not slightly pink, it was raw. Skin was soggy, broccoli was beyond yellow it was brown, rice was greasy and over all food was cold! If this is the kind of service you guys are going to give I will not being buying from any dig-inn location. I would love a refund for the food, and I am not the refund asking person but that food was literally a...
Read moreMy aunt and I met up here for lunch two days ago. She suggested this place due to the amazing catering work they have done for events she has been active in. Before entering, I also noticed that they had a standing ad, stating that they are available to help cater by providing filling sides for Thanksgiving/Harvest festival related events, which immediately drew my interest in general. We dined in and I noticed that the place itself is a tad small with very few seats lining the walls and stools at the windows. I can imagine it may turn off some people, especially if it's crowded or a long wait... But I found the behind kitchen decor with wooden shelves with jarred ingredients, hot meals under metal range hoods, modern tiled walls, drop lamps and bowled meals made out of repurposed materials to be oddly welcoming. It was a real smash of different styles to meet a contemporary look that I think can attract a range of people looking for warmth & a small hot meal to enjoy around the block. Everything was very clean, from the dining spaces to the actual food itself. Noise level was about medium due to the hot foods being prepared and a trendy crowd. My aunt had a custom bowl with sweet potato, kale, rice and salmon while I had the Avocado and Lentils bowl, meatless. I found it delicious with the fresh avocado and habanada dressing, very filling with the amount of quinoa in it, plentiful greens, refreshing cucumber and the sweet potato that garnished the top properly roasted! I could not believe how full I was after it! I was worried about the size of the bowl and was wrong! Anyway, there are a lot of places around this area to dine and the price is appropriate for the area and fresh ingredients. I don't think I would mind popping in again some time, perhaps later in the day, later in the year to see what they have to offer! I'm curious as to what this semi open-kitchen restaurant has to offer...
Read moreThis place is amazing. Easily a 5/5. They have seriously perfected almost every ingredient.
I ordered a cashew caesar base with carrots, charred broccoli, brussels sprouts, sweet potato, avocado, and tofu. And finished everything. I barely had to use the side sauces, that’s how tasty everything was.
Favorites parts of the bowl were the cashew caesar base and the brussels sprouts.
The tofu was a bit on the soft side. That isn’t even a concern, it was just something I noticed and would have ideally liked it to be truly more grilled and firm in terms of texture.
Outstanding - thank you DIG!
8/7/23 UPDATE: DIG has decided to revamp their tofu and it is now in fact perfected! Crispy and delicious. So much better than what it previously was above. Highly recommend the tofu now. Sauce wise - garlic aioli can’t go wrong. Hot sauce and pesto are good too.
UPDATE 8/21/25: they changed the garlic aioli and it is not better - it’s still edible but the ingredient separate and don’t stay together in the sauce mixture. Not sure what happened. I liked it from before. Crispy tofu is great! They tweaked it again so it’s in a rectangular shape with the crisp - great. And so are sweet potatoes both of which may have been tweaked or done better this particular day or something.
FOR THE RESTAURANT: the location is 66th and Broadway UWS and I ordered on 8/2 and 8/21. Regarding the garlic...
