The ingredients come from a bag that came on a truck that’s traveled over 1,000 miles from a nameless factory in a town with few jobs. Packed by Esmeralda in Salina, Kansas, who walks three miles to work every morning because her car broke down four months ago.

She can’t afford to fix it—she just bought new shoes for her three kids. They’ll wear them until holes open in the soles, their socks stained black from the pavement by the time they get home from school.

Esmeralda works at the meatpacking plant. Two of her fingers are taped together—her pinkie broke when it got caught in the heavy refrigerator door. But she keeps up the same pace she always has. The same responsibilities weigh on her, the same bills wait at home.

i went to the bar with my friends. all we needed was a quick break and a water before we started to drink again. All i was doing was sitting down in the bar that does not say i have to buy something to sit and i was asked to leave because i haven’t bought a drink yet. my friends and i were asked to leave for using a bar for its exact purpose, catching up with friends and planning on ordering a drink. i am beyond appalled that an owner of a bar would ask people to leave due to the fact i was sitting for 10 minutes and still haven’t ordered a drink. you were open. there was other people in your bar and yet you felt the need to ask people to leave because you were making instant money gratification. I hope you lose your service when people realize how scummy and unprofessional this establishment acts. if you don’t want people to relax and enjoy their night at your bar so you can make your profit, shut it down....

This place is a whole vibe and Jordan, the bartender, is too awesome. We enjoyed the pizza and the beverages and magical atmosphere. Excited to catch a show someday. Loved getting the scoop on the history of the place too. The veggie Detroit style pizza is seriously the best veggie pizza I have ever had. 12 out of ten stars.
