Huge fan of Fellini and have frequented other locations but unfortunately this one left a really sour taste in my mouth the other morning. My girl friend/biz partner and I were met with the most bizarre unwelcoming attitude from the woman working here who I suspect is the manager (?) wearing all black (blazer + trousers). My friend and I are both of mixed ethnicities (French + Indian, Filipino+British+Chinese) and while I truly hate to pull the race card, I cannot think of any other reason why such rudeness was exhibited from this woman at the get-go. I brushed it off as āmorning grumpinessā or āshe must have had a bad start to her dayā but after this cold demeanor I was then served a pathetic slice of the pistachio olive oil cake I ordered (a crumbly, sad, deconstructed looking piece of it which looked like it was barely a full serving) and when we called her attention twice about 30 min later to ask for the check she completely ignored us. She had her back faced to us 5 feet away. Fellini is not a huge and loud place where it is difficult to hear. Btw, the man next to us who ordered the same cake received a beautiful generous slice of it. We were here for a creative meeting hoping to feel inspired as Fellini does not only serve great coffee but is aesthetically pleasing - took some pics of us and our food/drink without disturbing any other patrons, did not hog any tables/keep new customers waiting for one etc. I could not think of anything we had done wrong to be recipients of such dismissive rude service. I am a huge supporter of the hospitality industry- often dine out, make sure to tip generously etc and my partner is a well-respected restauranteur and chef of over 20+ years in New York City so I have a soft spot and special place in my heart for everyone who works in such a demanding industry. I want nothing but to support establishments however the other morning completely came out of nowhere, disappointed and grossed me out. We walked over to Fellini WV to continue our meeting⦠further proving my point that I do in fact love Fellini, just not this location. Thank you for the hospitality,...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreItās a little bijou place on 8th between 23rd and 22nd. Itās filled with customers which isnāt hard to do because this little jewel has limited seating at tables with a small bar. The size makes the atmosphere friendly but if you are wanting to come here and reflect on your own this might not be the place for you.
Sadly my latte was tepid at best. It didnāt even feel warm when you touched the cup. I asked if they had a microwave to give it a warm up. They said no but offered to remake the cup. I said no, that is wasteful and actually even lukewarm it had a pretty good taste which means the coffee itself had to be pretty darn good. They also offered me a croissant which U politely declined since I didnāt have the time. The place was packed with people deep in conversation. Sadly, remember I said this place was small, a man came in with a dog. I am A DOG LOVER but this dog had free rein on his leash. If you were allergic to dogs, this could have put you in a predicament. But what I reject to is not the cute dog but his owner. He placed the dog butt and all on the seat. Firstly, let me share that a dog owner who loves his pet must google the word zoonotic. Secondly, a bare butt human or non human does not belong in a seat. Again I LOVE DOGS!!! Look we just went through a catastrophic health ordeal several years ago and for all our sakes we all need to worry about hygiene! Repeat: I AM A DOG LOVER. I THINK this place has a lot to offer our neighborhood. But I will share they arenāt the only coffee place that has trouble with the temperature of lattes. I guess I should order extra hot next time. I am including suggestions from the internet.
Itās obvious they want to make sure your order is correct. I couldnāt accept it gratis. I paid double. I want them to do well. In NYC anymore if you complain people flip it as itās your fault but that was not the case here. They were more than gallant....
Ā Ā Ā Read moreThe WORST cafe shop I went to, my friend and I ordered a cappuccino and a pistachio olive oil cake. The cappuccino that they gave was disappointing they didnāt ask what milk I wanted and it came out nothing like the picture on Yelp just a big chunk of coco powder with no Latte art. You told me this was worth $10. So I asked them to redo it for me cause I had to post it on Instagram which I didnāt take a pic of, then we tried out the pistachio olive oil cake. Let me tell you guys it tastes so bad, it tastes like itās expired. The pistachio green part tastes sour and there is an aftertaste of it. So I asked the waiter did they put sour cream in there (an ingredient) cuz I didnāt want to blame them. But he said he didnāt know and he took it and tried it out and said maybe. Then he asks DO YOU STILL WANT IT BACK? What do you mean still want it back? I was like ??? You just ate my cake and you ask me if I want it back? He didnāt give us another one just throw this cake away!? Leave me and my friend behind. First of all, you are the waiter here isnāt you should know what was inside? Second, you took my cake and ate it isnāt you should give us a new one. Plus on the menu, it said nothing bout sour cream in this pistachio olive oil cake. Third, you guys didnāt ask us what milk do you want but you asked every customer...
