Frozen Burrata served with a side of xenophobic discrimination. The owner was extremely rude and unpleasant. He made snarky remarks when we couldn’t get anyone’s attention to order since we were in a rush to go to the airport. When we had asked to have our food brought out as they were ready he told us to your face, quote, “Don’t tell me what to do, I’m the owner I know how to do it.” Next, he brought us extra utensils and bowls we didn’t even ask for and said, in an loud manner to our waiter, quote “bring this to them; they are very needy.” When I called him out to tell him I heard that - we were asian tourists so the entire time he assumed we couldn’t understand English - he yelled “I know I don’t care.” The utter disrespect from this miscreant of an OWNER who flagrantly boasted how he can treat his customer like his house pet simply was too much for us to bare, having flown halfway around the world Otherwise, the food was bland and cold. Decor was nice and elegant — a nice juxtaposition to the crude hospitality presented therein. Please drop your racist and xenophobic attitude if you’re going to own and serve at a “fine-dining restaurant”

Firstly, they brought us a glorious bread basket. It had a variety of tasty bits in it. We ordered a Mojito and an Arnold Palmer and the Arnold Palmer was never refilled or even offered to be refilled, someone just came and took the glass off the table and that was the end of that. The Caesar salad was pretty small and very basic. The beef carpaccio was pretty good with a nice portion of sliced truffles. The Barolo braised short ribs were tasty and cooked well. The absolute star was the veal chop, which was super thin and crispy. The gnocchi seppia however was unfortunate. It was too soft for my palate and the Uni on top was grainy like it had sand in it. Also the server added cheese on top that I definitely did not like. The mashed potatoes were interesting, in the way that they are good at first but the longer you eat them the less you like them… They were very sweet, which is not what you expect mashed potatoes taste like. With the $282 price tag before tip I probably would not return to this restaurant. It wasn’t overly busy and I imagine they get a lot of their patrons from the Ritz Carlton which is right next door.

The burrata is smoked but it’s cold… it’s a very odd contrast to the tomato which is hot. The portion of actual burrata is very small - it’s 3-4 bites. A ball of burrata has basically been cut in half and served. The majority of the plate is eggplant and it’s very vinegary and I did not like it. I do love a free bread basket - the bread sticks and tomato bread were great but the pane di casa wasn’t as soft as it should be. The ravioli was insanely sweet and tasted so overpoweringly of cinnamon it was on every surface of every piece of pasta, you could not escape it. The pasta itself was good and the dish had so much potential but eating this was like eating cinnamon toast crunch and just tasted of dessert. A waiter asked how it was after my first bite and I commented that it was very sweet he just sort of said “yeah” and left. My plate was taken away after having had two bites. The service isn’t attentive. They gave me $10 off which was something but it was still $70 USD ($110 AUD) for the worst meal I had in the US.

BEST ITALIAN FOOD IN NEW YORK CITY!! My best friend and I traveled from Florida to New York for a girls trip. We arrived to the city late and Gabriel's was the only restaurant nearby that was open so we decided to try it. When we entered the place was absolutely stunning and clean. Even though my best friend and I were the only ones in the place at the very end of the night, we were immediately greeted by the friendly staff members. Our waiter immediately came to our table, greeted us with a smile and took the time to listen to our starving stomachs who didn't know if it wanted raviolis or meatballs.

The waiter suggested Ravioli Zucca for my appetizer so i decided to try it and OMG!!!! it was soooooo good!! My best friend said she wanted spaghetti and meat sauce so he suggested the Tagliatelle Bolognese so we both decided to try it and OMG!! it was freaking amazing! Neither of us had leftovers and we didn't feel like stuffed pigs. The food was so filing and amazing that our stomachs felt just right.

At the very end of our dining experience, i finally asked the waiter his name, he replied Gabriel Jr. As in the son of THEEEEE Gabriel Sr. The freaking boss was serving us the whole time and he was so humble and friendly that we had no clue!

Needless to say, the food and our dining experience was soooo good that we returned 2 days later and ordered the exact same thing except this time i got the Polpette Di Manzo for my appetizer which was also absolutely AMAZING!! We sat down and Gabriel Jr. immediately remembered us and treated us like family! If you are in the New York area and you want some really good genuine Italian food, Gabriel's is the place! You will NOT be disappointed!

P.S. My best friend and I will be going there EVERY time we are...

RUDE ! And so unprofessional ! I called in to book an after work get together for about 20 people. What a big "mistake" I did when first thing I asked was if they have any specials at the bar for happy hour! The gentlemen (manager or the owner) on the phone first tells me that it is illegal to have happy hour because they don't want people to kill them selfs and that he owns the liqueur license and he knows better the law (I've worked in the restaurant business for over 8 years and believe me I do know the laws and regulations as soon as they come out!) Anyway I was still interested in bringing in the group of people but this arrogant gentleman didn't even give me a chance to say anything and hangs up on me! I figured there was some misunderstanding so I call back to explain that I am looking for a place to accommodate 20 people, but this time he doesn't even takes the phone but tells the hostess to tell me that he is NOT interested! Excuse me? You didn't even bother to hear what I was looking for, you don't even know what you're NOT interested in! For my 8 years restaurant experience I have not ones met someone so RUDE and UNPROFESSIONAL! And If this was the owner of the place or GM then my disappointment is beyond anything! Imagine how miserable is the entire stuff if their boss is such a prick??? I doubt anyone would feel welcomed in this atmosphere. Maybe the food is good but nor me or any of the 20 people I wanted to bring would find that out! I will rather go somewhere with friendly and professional service and feel welcomed, then ever experience such disrespectful attitude.

P.S. Happy Hour is NOT illegal! Free Drinks are illegal, and as long as your happy hour prices are not less then half the regular price you can have a...

Disappointing experience. I notified the staff I couldn’t speak loudly because had lost my voice and ordered tea. No one offered lemon and honey with it. By comparison, the store where I shopped earlier offered tea with lemon and honey immediately and were very polite throughout my entire experience. You would think that a waiter at a high end restaurant would have a similar consideration - turned out, they didn’t! When I politely asked for a slice of lemon, they appeared annoyed and brought enormous slices which were not appropriate for a small tea cup. I didn’t complain - didn’t want to spoil an otherwise wonderful day. Appetizer and main course were acceptable. The atmosphere was pleasant. At the end, they informed me that my card didn’t go through and were not subtle about it. I provided another card, contacted my bank and was notified that credit card machine at the restaurant didn’t scan the chip on my card properly. I used that card several times without any issues prior to the dinner and afterwards in a cab on my way home. Understand that technical glitches happen and are nobody’s fault - there is no need to create frustration for your guest by announcing that loudly in front of other customers and stating that my card doesn’t work while it’s your own technological deficiency that prompted the inconvenience. I’ll most certainly not be returning. Delivery service from Grubhub display better manners and are more cheerful than employees at this...
