I think this place is a solid 3 out of 5. If you don't want to read below (you should), this is the takeaway: it's not a good value. I don't mind spending a lot of money on a special meal, but I expect extraordinary service and sublime food. This place did not deliver.
For the details: upon entering the dining floor it smelled like vomit. I don't know what that was about. It wasn't present at the table so that was a relief. In terms of the rest of the atmosphere it was ok. Stylish but boring. It was Christmas day - some Christmas music would have been nice. we were early and seated promptly - which I appreciate. However, we were seated at a very wobbly table. We were a party of four and they had put two tables together - not a problem ordinarily. In this case, once the table wobble was remedied the difference in height between the two tables was over an inch. We had to be careful where we placed things so they didn't tip over. the waiter was helpful and pleasant. My issue with the service was mainly the other staff. I've never been to any restaurant, let alone one of this "caliber" where water was hard to come by. Once the initial pour we only saw the water person a couple of times - at least 30 minutes apart. The person clearing the table must have been under a directive to get us out because he kept trying to grab plates that we were clearly still working on. At one point he took my glass of wine away in which I still had wine. At least ask. When my husband mentioned it to the waiter he said he would bring more over which my husband refused. So I was pleasantly surprised when he came over with a fresh glass and wine - except he LITERALLY poured exactly one swallow of wine. I was shocked. We didn't complain to get a free glass of wine but that was a little parsimonious to say the least. The food. It was not bad. However, for the price I was disappointed. The steak was so salty I could barely eat it - and I like salty things. I also wasn't particularly impressed with the quality of the meat. Again, it wasn't bad. But for $64 for a filet mignon I expect it to almost melt in my mouth. I'm a native New Yorker and I've been to many of the city's steakhouses. Additionally, my father was a butcher. I know what a great steak tastes like. I frequently feel that complaints about food are a little unfair since we all have different likes. But I believe this case is different. Maybe if you're used to national chain steakhouses this is extraordinary - but in terms of what great steak is, it truly is not. lastly, the coat check person seemed annoyed when we came to collect our coats. Like, literally rolled her eyes when she had to leave her chat with the check-in person. Why?
To sum up: I wouldn't go back and I recommend you look elsewhere if you're looking for a fine dining experience. This was my first time not spending Christmas at home with family - we decided to go out instead. I was really hoping for a special experience and I was sorely disappointed. I realize it was Christmas day and they were busy, but for the price it should have been better...
Read moreCame for dinner last night to celebrate my friend’s 27th birthday. When you first walk in there is a bar with some tables and a hostess desk. After the ladies greeted us downstairs we had to climb a flight of stairs to another hostess desk. We had 8:30 PM reservations but we had to wait a little to be seated. There was a bar upstairs that you could wait at that was very nice.
After we got seated we all got some drinks. Red wine, white wine, espresso martinis, and a 57 spritz. All the drinks were very good and paired well with dinner. They also gave us complimentary garlic bread which was to die for, we got another round. Buttery, garlicky and soft!! DELICIOUS. For apps we got the Baked Clams, Whipped Ricotta Honey, and the Crispy Calamari Casino. The baked clams were interesting, good flavor but a little chewy and didn't have a crust on top like normal baked clams, not our favorite. The whipped ricotta had potential, it was good but it needed some salt or seasoning was very bland. The crispy calamari was very good, there were pieces of bacon and other veggies mixed in, different but good.
For our mains we all got pasta and shared the original Chicken Parm Pizza. We got the Dry-Aged Porterhouse Agnolotti, Spicy Lobster Rigatoni alla Vodka, Fusilli alla Manzo, Potato Gnocchi, and corn brulee. I have been here before and always get the agnolotti, it has always been very very good but last night it was a bit undercooked but the flavor was still amazing. Everyone was a big fan of the lobster rigatoni and the special of the day fusilli alla manzo. They even brought out a rolling stove and cooked the lobster rigatoni in front of our table. PS: we got two orders of the chicken parm pizza because it says enough for two but we were a group of 7 and it was enough (could at least serve 4-5 people)
For dessert we had the Ferrero Rocher ice cream with a candle and a double espresso. Our server also brought out another complimentary ice cream (blood orange creamsicle). The ice cream was just plain chocolate ice cream with hardened chocolate and nuts, nothing special. The blood orange sorbet was also not a favorite of the table. We were too full to really have any dessert but next time we’ll def save some room.
The atmosphere/decor had a very romantic but cool vibe. It was packed inside but not too crowded where it felt like people were on top of you. The wine glasses, the napkins, and serving plates were all very nice. Normally I wouldn't point out something like this but I loved it. Our server was very polite and guided us through the menu. He was patient and answered all of our questions and brought out everything we needed, I believe his name was Jonathan. We will definitely...
Read moreI recently had the pleasure of dining at Quality Italian this past weekend, and it definitely lived up to the hype!
One important thing to note: reservations fill up quickly, especially on weekends. If you're hoping to snag a spot during peak hours, it's best to book about a week or two in advance. Our reservation was for 9 PM, and while the restaurant closes around 11 PM, there's no rush to leave once it's closing time. We didn’t walk out until around 12:30 AM, and I never felt pressured to finish quickly. So, don’t worry if you’re booking a late reservation!
The restaurant offers a coat check, and it’s free!
Parking in the area isn’t terrible, but it can be pricey. The meters run at $1.00 every 10 minutes.
Now, onto the food. We started with the calamari. The portion size was generous, enough to satisfy everyone at the table. A quick note: it does contain pork, so just keep that in mind if you're avoiding it.
The bread they serve at the table is soft and warm. They bring it with what I thought was olive oil (though I could be mistaken about that). Most restaurants charge for bread these days, but here, it’s complimentary, which is a nice touch. I was initially concerned there wouldn’t be enough for the whole table, but once I finished my entrée, I was glad I didn’t ask for more.
For the main courses, we tried the Classic Chicken Parm for Two. It’s not just for two people! I actually ended up taking some home. The chicken was savory and the tray itself includes a bed of lettuce and honey. I never thought honey would pair so well with chicken parm, but it’s a game-changer!
We also ordered the Spicy Lobster Pasta. I’m not typically into spicy food, but this dish had the perfect level of heat. Plus, it’s swimming in sauce, which is always a win in my book. If you love a good saucy pasta, this one’s for you.
If you prefer something lighter or don’t eat meat, I’d recommend the Pesto Mafaldine. You can ask for it without the Italian sausage, and it’s packed with a rich pesto flavor. It’s a perfect dish for pesto lovers. Don’t be fooled by the serving size. It packs a punch.
Although I didn’t try the Bolognese myself due to It including pork, a member of my party did and absolutely loved it. They told me it tasted amazing, so I’m sure it’s worth trying if you enjoy that classic Italian sauce.
And for cocktail lovers, make sure to try their Moscow Mule! The lime adds a nice balance of sweetness without being overly sugary.
Overall, Quality Italian provides an excellent dining experience, with fantastic food, and attentive service. It’s definitely...
