I truly am shocked at how this place has so many good reviews.. I ordered dinner for takeout and perhaps that was my mistake and this is one of those "dine in is better" but its Italian so I didn't even think it was remotely possible to mess up and considering how expensive TAKEOUT was, I would've thought the price would AT LEAST live up to the expectations for what I was paying for...WRONG. The eggplant parm was absolutely appalling. A thick cut piece of eggplant with zero flavor and a bitter taste slapped with a piece of cheese and a overflowing pool of sauce. The "free" foccacia bread both smelled and tasted absolutely rancid like it was made with dirty water. The only edible fair tasting part of the meal was the free sourdough bread and my boyfriends chicken parm, although that is me being generous because the chicken was cold, soggy, and felt like it'd been sitting in its vapor for hours. $28 for chicken parm plus an upcharge because he paid extra for a caccio e pepe pasta substitution, which was also dry and disgusting. Not to mention the food was cold and I had to reheat it in the microwave when it came. I thought it would've been safe to order a salad, but $18 for a plate of greens with a $10 extra charge for chicken... a little ridiculous. I am so disappointed beyond belief and didn't want to write a review, but considering I paid close to $100 on a takeout meal that was disgusting, I felt like I had to. What a waste, we would've been better off buying a box of pasta and making it myself I...

I am so glad we chose Gersi for one of our first outdoor dining experiences. Four of us ate at their outdoor dining area on the street and we were the only people there. This made it more comfortable for us, but I wish we chose the spacious backyard instead. If you're reading this, definitely ask for the backyard space!

I had to try the spaghetti al limone - I've never heard of a dish like this before and with the hot, humid weather we've been experiencing the idea of refreshing citrus won me over. This dish did not disappoint! Every bite had a perfect mix of crisp lemon, creamy cheese, and pasta. I'm not sure if they make their pasta in-house or not, but the texture of the spaghetti was absolutely perfect with just enough chew.

My friends got the carbonera, which was also excellent, and the black linguini. I appreciate that Gersi gave bread and oil before the food came, margins are tight these days and that gesture went a long way (the bread was tasty too).

Great choice for takeout or delivery or outdoor dining. I need to come back to visit...

My friend and I popped in here on a whim after walking around Brooklyn for hours and not knowing what to eat and boy am I glad we did. I tend not to order pasta when I go out because I do just fine making it at home but this menu was INSPIRED. There were so many things I wanted to order but I ended up going with a penne dish with shrimp in it and it was to die for. The shrimp was seasoned and cooked to perfection. Not sure what kind of bread they brought out, kinda seemed like focaccia but I am incredibly ignorant so I could absolutely be wrong, but it almost made me emotional it was so damn good. My only gripe, if you can even call it that, is they had like 3 different menus to account for specials and seasonal dishes which is great, but I went on their website to look up the menu afterwards to recall what I tried and what I wanted to try. Their website only has their main, permanent menu so there were a lot of dishes that I didn’t see listed. So if you’re scouting out the menu before you go - there might be even more options when...

Stumbled upon this Italian restaurant. Very nice selection of pastas with several all featuring their homemade pasta. Received a complementary focaccia bread and chickpea dip which was very tasty and the rosemary really stood out. The starter or mushroom bruschetta was very nice, mushrooms needed literally a minute longer cooking but they were still nice. The main course came out while I was still eating my starter which was unexpected and bad restaurant etiquette. Mains should only be released once starters are cleared. My main was very nice, pasta cooked perfectly al dente and the sauce was rich, plenty of it and eggplant (aubergine) was melt in the mouth. Nice atmosphere with very attentive hosts sometimes a little too much but that's a personal preference. Music was down low allowing for conversation and lighting was subdued for a nice romantic atmosphere. I would be happy to return here and try more of their dishes
