I have been going to Gino's since I was a child. The food was never amazing but you know what you're getting. I went there this evening with my family. The waitress was friendly at first. We ordered drinks and then our food. I ordered a water. I asked for it twice and 30 minutes after my first ask, I got a glass of ice with barely any water. Then the food comes. Well, some of the food. 3 out of the five of us got our meals. My mother and I did not get anything. No biggie. Sometimes things take a little longer to come out. 5 minutes goes by. 10 minutes. Other tables are getting their food. We call the waitress over who has been avoiding us (at this point, I still hadn't gotten my water) and ask for our food. She goes to check on it. Doesn't come back. Tables that came in after us are getting their food. She's avoiding eye contact. When everyone at my table is done eating and my mother and I hadn't gotten our meal yet, my mom decides to get up and ask the waitress for our food. When she passes the table I tell her if it's not ready, I don't want it. Because who wants to sit at a table when everyone has eaten already to finally get your meal and eat? She yells at me that she's going to pay for it anyway so I might as well take it. I tell her that I don't need her to pay for my meal. I just didn't want it if it wasn't coming out. I wanted to go home. She goes back to the kitchen and says it's going to be 3 more minutes. 10 minutes later, no food. She's purposefully avoiding our table. Other tables that came in 40 minutes later than us are getting their food. Finally, she brings my mom her meal and my side dish. Broccoli. No sign of my actual meal. I tell her I don't want it anymore. "I'll bag it up for you then. Jesus Christ!!!" She actually yelled at ME! I guess it's my fault my food never came out? Oh, she never did bag it up. Look, I've worked in the restaurant industry. I've made mistakes. Kitchens have made mistakes. But when that happens, fess up. Let me know. Offer me something until my food arrives. Just let me know what's going on. But instead, the server avoided us and chastised us. Awful. No photos or videos to share because I NEVER...
Read moreDo not give them your business. I placed a delivery order in advance to my school nearby. It was 2 of my students birthdays and we wanted to have a pizza party to celebrate. I called 20 minutes before the order was supposed to arrive to confirm the order, as well as placed the order several hours in advance. At about 25 minutes after the set delivery time I called the restaurant because I still hadn't received a call from the delivery person. They informed me that the pizza was delivered 30 minutes ago. I told the woman on the phone that I was never notified about my order arriving. She proceeded to get nasty and defensive and tell me that the driver did call me and text me and that I needed to place the blame on the security guard for not contacting me that It arrived. I informed her that the security guard is not in charge of delivery orders, but Is employed to ensure our students and staff's safety in the building. In the entirety of the conversation the woman continued to side with the driver and blame It on me and the school. I asked her if anywhere on the ticket It said to " leave It at the door" she said no. I asked if they just leave hot pizza at peoples doorsteps without ringing a doorbell and notifying the customer and she informed me that yes thats a normal policy for them. I was only taken remotely seriously when I mentioned speaking with the owner. In which then she asked the delivery driver what number he contacted, and It turns out he was calling the wrong number. In the end I was refunded "$10" for tip and delivery charge, but the bottom line of It all was my pizza was cold, the service was rude, and all I was trying to do was celebrate my students birthdays before they had to go home. I won't be ordering again, not due to the messup on the drivers part but the ill mannered and discourteous staff who tried to blame me and my school persistently up until the end. This is a terrible look for them and in the end the only ones that suffered were my students who got cold pizza and had to rush and eat It because of time...
Read moreThis place is the last great vestige for all things Eye-Talian on Staten Island, PERIOD! The choices are plentiful, the food is delicious and the fact that it is actually TWO places in one (pizzeria and sit-down restaurant) takes it over the top. They even have a bar area to serve up your favorite drink! In addition, the facility is very well managed and the staff is on top of the tables, either bringing your food to you or wiping them down after each person or group of persons leaves. When I'm there I hear the phone ringing constantly and despite the incessant calls, the person taking the call(s) is always polite, accommodating and understanding. These are all traits of an excellent business model and it is therefore not surprising that at times the place can get super busy. My only suggestion would be to somehow expand the area where you first walk in to allow more room for customers to line up to place their orders. Right now, the space is small and is just inside the front door so when it's busy, you have to do some fancy legwork to get your order in and then move to the side to let the next person order, etc. More room is needed!! One other suggestion, please put the condiments (crushed red pepper, oregano, etc. etc.) on the tables rather than just at one location in the front next to the garbage can. When it's busy, you can't even get to them and at times, one or more of the condiments you are looking for are not there! I think some front area enhancement will go far to address the human traffic, condiment access AND access to the garbage can to discard your refuse. Aside from this, this place is a must if you want delicious food and a nice sorta old-world style atmosphere! Oh and the contemporary music playing throughout is also a bonus. They are using Sonos speakers I believe (not cheap) which produce a rich sound to further enhance the enjoyment of eating at this...
