Can't see what the hype is all about. Old mate behind the counter seemed like he could care less. Messed up our order by missing an item, then brought the wrong smoothie to us, and to top it off ruined the coffee.

When we asked again at the table before drinking our smoothie if this was the smoothie we ordered (because the colour of the drink was brownish when we ordered something with various fruits), he simply said yes. Another server came to us and said we received the wrong smoothie and brought us our correct smoothie.

The server that took our order also frothed the milk. Coffee shot itself tasted good but the milk ruined it. It was filled with macro foams, riddled with large bubbles, and had a dry mouth-feel. I understand mistakes happen but the catastrophe of the train-wreck and lack of apology/care makes me think you treat your customers as simply another dollar bill. Also that your staff simply lacked training.

The breakfast sando sounded good on paper but fell short on the taste department. Loaded with too much eggs and you couldn't really taste the tomato chutney anymore. Since one of the orders were missed, the first sando came slightly cold. Second sando was fresher but the amount of eggs on there was even much more than the first. Consistency is definite miss.

Seeing the nonchalance of the general staff, we decided not to complain and simply carried on with our day. There are better places in the city for a good coffee and brekkie for the prices that they...

As a reviewer, I have to say, this place is truly a hidden gem. If you manage to find it, consider yourself lucky—you’ve hit gold! Hutch and Waldo is a charming little spot that makes you feel at home the moment you walk in. The customer service here is top-notch, a solid five stars. The staff are attentive, friendly, and create a welcoming atmosphere that makes you want to stay a while.

One of the things that really sets this place apart is the freedom you have to enjoy it however you like. You can have meaningful conversations without the weight of today’s politics looming over you, or you can choose to sit quietly, get lost in a book, and let your mind wander. It’s the perfect place whether you’re feeling social or if you just want a bit of peaceful solitude.

When it comes to kid-friendliness, Hutch and Waldo maintains a laid-back, relaxed vibe that’s suitable for families. While it’s more of a spot for quiet enjoyment, it’s not unwelcoming to kids, so you can feel comfortable bringing them along if needed.

No matter what kind of day you're having, you'll find your spot here when you walk through these doors. Trust me—let them know you heard about it here, and you won't be...

This feels like a dark kitchen despite trying to market themselves as a place you can pop in. We used to come regularly. However, we noticed that they always prioritize the mobile orders instead of prioritizing helping the people who have walked in and are waiting.

One day, we ordered and waited a full 10 minutes with a baby in a stroller. Various orders came and went. No one bothered to check on us. Finally, we asked for a refund and planned to go somewhere else. At that point, they said they hadn’t started the order so could get to it (shocking that they would wait 10 min to start the coffee order). We said no, we’ll take the refund. Then, they said they refunded us but couldn’t print the receipt due to technical issues (another red flag?). We found it quite shocking a food and beverage establishment can’t print a paper receipt.

We will not be coming back, but if we did, mobile order is the way to go, since this is clearly not a cute coffee shop where you can walk in and expect a...

I recently had the pleasure of spending 3.5 weeks on the Australian coast, situated between Brisbane and Byron Bay. There, I fell in love with the coffee and café culture and suddenly realized why Aussie spots have been proliferating across Manhattan and LA. It’s because the baristas are friendlier; the food is fresher, more vibrant, healthier; the lattes are always smooth and satisfying. These spots are *that* much better than what most Americans are used to; Hutch & Waldo encapsulates that perfectly. Order at the counter; chat with the staff; enjoy an excellent latte or some nourishing bites. The conversations happening across the counter are genuine, and everything I’ve ordered here has been great as well - love the use of Matchaful in the matcha lattes. 🍵 I’ll be leaving NYC next month, but I’m happy the neighborhood now has a spot like Hutch & Waldo. An experience here should make any New Yorker just a bit friendlier and less uptight.

I hadn’t had a burrito from this spot in over a year, and I was genuinely excited to try it again today. Sadly, things seem to have changed—and not for the better. Right from the start, I noticed that this burrito didn’t hold its shape at all, and it was loaded with an excessive amount of salsa that created a total mess inside. The few beans and unexpected addition of corn felt out of place, especially since I used to love the potato they added, which really made it something special. While they used to serve salsa on the side, this time, there was no need (or space) for extra—it was practically swimming in salsa on the inside. The quality has definitely declined, and unfortunately, it just doesn’t meet the standard it once did.
