Edit: reason why I lowered my rating. I don’t understand why the blonde girl has to be difficult and unresponsive. I asked for a receipt and she tells me it’s only for the restaurant and walks away without letting me respond. When she comes back I asked for it again and her response was the same. So I told her, you are the only person that refuses to give me my receipt stating it’s only for the restaurant when all you have to do is give me a copy of the receipt for what I paid for. I took off my rating of returning to this restaurant. Until the owner gets that girl customers service training and learns to be nice to PAYING customers, I think this place will lose customers.
Even though we just ate empanadas, they still get 4 stars because you have to buy the sauce unlike in other restaurants that give you one for every two empanadas that you buy. But let’s get into the flavors and texture of the them. We bought the yuca, chilena, chicken and beef empanadas. We rated them from most to least favorite. Coming in first was the chilena because the flavors of the beef, raisins and olives made this a delicious treat and it was juicy. It tasted like a comforting dish a grandmother makes 💗. The next was the yuca empanada because a crusted fried yuca is delicious no matter what’s inside it. Our least favorite were the chicken and beef because the chicken was a little too dry for me and the beef was a little too salty.
Read moreThis is probably a good restaurant, but I got a terrible customer service. I went with my wife to try for the first time some food from Paraguay, we were very excited and the first waiter took us to our table very fast. Then a waitress came and gave us our menu. After that it was just checking the time, waiting for our waitress to come and ask for our order, after we ordered she forgot to bring the food, we wait 35 minutos for our food, until we asked the first waiter for it and he brought it. But wait there were no spoons, forks, knives because our waitress forgot, so this guy went really fast for it (again). The food was ok. We wanted to try a dessert so we were waiting for our waitress to come for the empty plates, but again after 15 minutes of waiting, we kindly asked for the check and we were ready to leave. But again our waitress forgot and never brought the check, I was getting mad so I stand up from my table (outside dinner) and went inside of the restaurant to ask for my check and pay for it, when bum the waitress in front of the door, saying to me: “thanks for coming, have a good day” and I was like “but I haven’t paid, you never gave me the check”. She said that she forgot and went for it in 5 seconds. I paid with exact change and left. I would try to come back in the future because it looks like a good restaurant. But for now 2...
Read moreYou know a restaurant from a particular nation is excellent when it gets love from people in that nation thousands of miles away. Paraguay is one of the nations closest to my heart and whenever I want to mentally be back in Asunción among dear friends, I make my way to Sunnyside on the weekends and order vori vori.
It's hard not to be enamored by I Love Paraguay because they deliver on all facets in terms of food, service and ambiance.
The space is cozy by vibrant and the staff are very hospitable and helpful, but the food delivers each and every single time no matter what you order. I've visited several times and made my way across the menu but I still have so many things that will keep me coming back. The soups and traditional dishes here are superb and whether you want meat, pasta, small bites, or even dessert, I Love Paraguay hits the spot. The gnocchi are definitely a must try and their chipa guazu is delicious along with any and all of their empanadas!
Definitely one of the more unique restaurants in Queens that's far beyond just the novelty of being one of the few Paraguayan spots in town. You'll leave here content and be back time and again....
