Icon Bar — Restaurant in New York

This review is for Alex and Skip’s Ladies and Gentlethemmes event held on Sunday 5/15/22 from 2-6 PM.

These two are event planning professionals and pioneers, who are carving a space for folks that is much desired, much loved, and much needed. They successfully created a fun loving, safe, warm, mindful and inclusive space for queer women and non-binary folks to have some fun and connect with each other! Although the event took place at Icon, a lovely bar, Alex and Skip took care in catering to folks who don’t drink alcohol as well, with their list of carefully curated mocktails and games that provided engaging activities beyond consuming alcohol.

Furthermore, the timing of the event was excellent, taking advantage of usually quieter hours at a bar, Sunday at 2 PM and ending early, around 6 PM which is great for the working professional or student.

I had a very disappointing and unprofessional experience at this establishment. I visited with friends and my friends service dog, and the bartender the name is Marcelo immediately stated that dogs were not allowed. When I calmly explained that service animals are protected under New York law and must be permitted, he became agitated and refused to provide service.

As a veterinarian and as someone familiar with service animal regulations, I found this behavior both disrespectful and unacceptable. While I can understand that some employees may not be fully trained on legal requirements, I expected management to step in and handle the situation appropriately. Unfortunately, that did not happen, which left me with a very negative impression.

For this reason, I cannot recommend this place. Proper training on customer service and service animal laws is urgently needed. Until that happens, it is not an establishment I would trust to provide respectful or...

I went to Icon Bar for the first time today along with many friends that I have invited to come out with me. The bartender (Dakota) was extremely pleasant, professional and helpful. I received many, many comments from my friends on how great the the atmosphere and most importantly Dakota's service was. Dakota was fun, attentive, and everyone had a great time thanks to his great service. Would definitely recommend! !! I would recommend this bar to anyone and would come again in an instant!!!! Their drinks are really good and are made at your convenience. They offered me, and my friends a lot of alcohol based suggestions that helped us select the best choices.
