I really want to give this IHOP a great review as I have been going to this location since I was a small child with my family. I have many great memories both with my family and friends at this IHOP. It is also probably the best tasting IHOP, of the ones I have gone to in Brooklyn. They up until recently didn't skimp on ingredients outside of a few weird occasions which was corrected. I find myself now having these situations more often, they still correct it, but I know its a tactic used to keep passive people from speaking up. Only yesterday I had a situation where I asked for something and it was incorrect and it wasn't until I raised the issue they admitted the product was out of stock, which felt pretty sleazy since the product was more expensive than the one they gave me.
However, that isn't the reason I am rating the location so low. I can even overlook the fact the tables are too close together that it can be difficult to sit in booths these days, or the fact it's becoming more common to see a table that isn't cleaned, or silverware that needs to be examined when you take it out. No the biggest issue is the service, particularly if you bring someone with you that isn't black. I have had several incidents where I bought friends with me and felt embarrassed by the treatment they received. Things such as being ignored when they ask for a seat, or waiting longer to be serviced. While I am a woman of color, my significant other is not, and I feel that when I come with him, I am treated differently. Yesterday we placed an order at the same time as another table that had 6 people to our 2, and it took 35 minutes to get our drinks, versus their 5. Our food also came out significantly later. If I hadn't burned gas driving halfway across Brooklyn I would have walked out. Money is money, and I don't understand why this is a common problem at this location. This was not always the experience, but it seems to be an issue with some of...
Read moreA very odd experience each time I come here. It's not clean nor is it cheap. Tonight I was given a Disney card and told to wait for our turn. I was trying to figure out the system: there were like 8 cards saying, Cinderella, LionKing, Ben Affleck and some other movies. The hostess gives me a card and I tell him, "how will you know which Ben-It will be if you give it to me and the guy ahead of me?" Hostess was clueless to this discussion- so he hands me Cinderella, all I could do was laugh. When the place is a madhouse on the weekends and the same cards are used...I'd like to know how a war doesn't break out. Next we sit and decide on the dinner. The waitress asks my mom for the menu and she reads it for another table. SUCH CLASS! LOL
than 15 minutes later we get water and she takes the order. I get fried crispy salad with chicken and it's okay with bacon on top-I didn't ask for that. Next my dad has the crispy steak. The garlic bread is missing so that comes about 1/2 way into the meal as my mom gets cherry covered smothered on pancakes.
It gets better since my parents are 55+ they discount 1/2 the meal. My dad pays the bill and it seems they deducted 2 meals and we again try to explain the math but the hostess is lost. On the receipt is a survey and if you fill that out you get a free stack of pancakes on the next visit. Guess where I will be...
Read moreThe food was absolutely disgusting. I decided to come here with my boyfriend after he warned me that him and his friends got food poisoning from eating breakfast there, but I wanted to give them the benefit of the doubt and try the food since it is a chain restaurant and I’ve been to several ihop locations, why not? I ordered French toast and the presentation of it was amazing but it didn’t taste like anything. It was like eating fried bread and the syrup made it tolerable but i couldn’t finish it. I enjoyed eating the fruits ontop more than the actual meal. The cold brew was okayish? It had a weird taste to it, like a chemical taste, and I’ve had the cold brew at other ihop locations and they usually taste delicious. My hashbrowns were never delivered to the table, which was a bit upsetting since the French toast was already bad, and I assumed you could never mess up hash browns right? My boyfriend ordered a Belgian waffle and he said the same thing about the waffle, that it had no taste. He also had cranberry juice which was very tart but I really liked it. Overall worst ihop experience and I’ve been to locations all over the city and in Florida. The service wasn’t too bad it was...
