I never write reviews but I am compelled to. After reading all of the positive reviews, I was expecting great service. I am picking up a foster pet today from a rescue and I tried ALL DAY yesterday to schedule a pick up with Pet Cab NYC. I emailed around noon and got a response from Pet Cab asking for more details. I replied right away then got no response. I followed up with another email. No response. I waited and a few hours later, I called. The man told me to text him my pick up and drop off locations and that he would reply "right away." I texted him and his responses were vague and non-committal, on average taking 30+ minutes to reply each time. After he finally told me a price, at 5:39pm, I told him that I would like to book my ride. He replied at 6:47pm, asking about my pet's discharge time. I replied. No response. I texted back several more times asking him to confirm my ride. He never replied & ultimately I was not able to confirm my ride. I called and left a voice message again around 8pm asking if my ride was confirmed. Nothing. Still have yet to hear back. Now, I am left scrambling to find a way to transport my already anxious foster dog from the rescue today. This was one of the most unprofessional experiences I have had. Pet Cab NYC completely wasted my time and added unnecessary stress to an already stressful situation.

We live in Chelsea and had to take our little old gal up to Midtown to see a specialist. Because of the pandemic adding extra stress all around, we really didn’t want to fight with a driver about allowing her into a cab on top of everything happening with her health. So, we did some research and found Pet Cab NYC and we are SO GLAD WE DID. Logistically: Scheduling was extremely easy. The trip was reasonably priced, all things considered. The car itself was immaculate and all of the typical COVID precautions were taken. Personally: JoAnna was an absolute delight. She was really flexible and patient when it took a bit longer to wrap up the appointment then we originally thought. On top of everything else, she also has some excellent stories in the case you get stuck in traffic. 😊 We highly recommend this company. Sophie gives it an enthusiastic two paws up.

I booked Pet Cab at 4 PM to transport my dogs back home from their boarders. I paid in full up front for the ride.

Day of, the owner(?) Joan calls me a few hours before the ride while I’m on a flight asking if the driver can come at 3 PM. I text her explaining I’m on a plane en route home and can’t move the dogs’ transport because I’ve timed it with my arrival home. I wouldn’t be home to receive them at her earlier suggested time.

Then she suggests 4:30. I tell her I’d prefer we just stick to the original 4 PM. I’d already paid my boarders for their time (which is by the hour!) and they’re anticipating the dogs’ pick up at 4. I receive NO response from Joan, so I assume the dogs are getting picked up at their scheduled and paid for time (4 PM).

On my way home from the airport, I try to confirm with Joan. She responds that the driver went ahead and called my boarder themselves to schedule the pick up for 4:30, completely disregarding my very clear preference that we stick to 4 PM. I decide to call Joan at this point and she lets me know that she’s at her horse farm in Florida (??) and that usually people are SUPER flexible with her last minute pick-up and drop-off time changes. Odd. She was shocked that I was upset about her just going through with her preferred time and never getting back to me. She spoke condescendingly and repeated that she’d never met someone who wasn’t flexible with day-of, last minute changes to the transport schedule. How very weird of me to expect the expensive service I paid for (up front) to happen at the time I booked it and not when Joan suggests.

I then had to explain the series of other reasons I preferred 4 PM, including that I do not want to change the plan day-of on my boarder- who may have work meetings (WFH), other dogs coming in, their own schedule, etc. Additionally, the transport is an hour and I wanted to walk the dogs before it got dark (at 5:30). They eat at 5 PM, I’d like to adhere to that. And, greatest of all, I had scheduled, Joan had confirmed, and I had PAID IN FULL for 4 PM which is, at minimum, enough. Joan’s response to all of that was “it gets dark at 5 in New York? Yesterday I was outside in Florida until 6:30…”

Guess what time they got picked up? 4:30 and with 0 outreach from Joan.

Joan is not understanding, unapologetic, out of touch, has no customer service touch, and is a bit awkward.

The actual driver was extremely friendly!

Just uber with your dog, you’ll save a LOT of back and forth with “Joan” from her...

I booked pet cab to transfer my dog from NYC to Long Island while I was out of the country. We booked and paid for the ride weeks ahead of the scheduled date. I aligned with my friend and mother in law on pick up and drop off times since it was the middle of their work days. I saw that the website said ALL cars would have a live camera link to check on your pet so I requested the link and they responded back that the car that was reserved for pick up didn’t have that option (strange) but they can have a different car come at a later time to have the live video. I promptly responded and said thats fine, we can just continue as planned because I didn’t want to go through the hassle of changing the transfer times. The next message I get from them is that they are on route to pick up my dog…

To my dismay, they reach out to my friend and changed the time of pick up on their own and stated that I, the owner, requested this change. The new time didn’t work since she had work meetings and the worst part is I was completely kept out of the loop from pet cab. If my friend didn’t notify me of the changes, I would have never known. That is a huge liability. Not only did they change the time initially, but they continued to keep pushing it back because they had “VIP celebrity clients” that they had to prioritize that day. Mind you, I had paid and locked in the date and time weeks before. They said there was nothing they could do to go back to the original time and the driver was coming all the way from Maine. (Pick up was in NYC). I don’t believe that a driver was ever on the way with the way they were communicating to my friend.

All in all, the way pet cab handled the situation was distasteful and unprofessional and there was no communication made to me of these changes. I did not trust them to transport my dog after this, so my mother in law had to drive all the way to the city to get my dog herself, disrupting her work day.

*Note: we looked at our charge on our credit card and the name it was charged under wasn’t pet cab, rather a random man’s name. When we googled it, it showed an art dealer that had an article stating he was fraudulent. Not sure what...

I cannot express my gratitude enough for the exceptional service provided by Pet Cab NYC during a time of distress for my 9-year old beloved dog, Baraka. From the moment I called in a panic, their prompt response and genuine concern instantly put my mind at ease.

My dog suddenly fell ill, experiencing alarming symptoms of vomiting and bloody diarrhea. Understandably worried, I reached out to my vet, who advised me to rush her to the pet ER hospital in midtown, a considerable distance away from our home. With no immediate access to a taxi or Uber willing to transport my sick dog, my husband stumbled upon Pet Cab NYC and made the call that proved to be a saving grace.

To my relief, the founder of Pet Cab NYC, who also happened to be the driver, arrived promptly at our doorstep. Her warm and caring demeanor immediately reassured me that my dog was in safe hands. It was evident that she had a true passion for animals and genuinely cared about their well-being. Throughout the journey, she ensured that my dog and I were comfortable and secure.

During this trying time, their exceptional service and genuine care alleviated much of the stress and anxiety that naturally accompanies a pet emergency. They demonstrated not only professionalism but also compassion and empathy, treating my dog as if she were their own.

I wholeheartedly recommend Pet Cab NYC to anyone in need of reliable and compassionate pet transportation. Their dedication, expertise, and sincere love for animals shine through in every interaction. In a world where finding genuine care for our furry family members can be challenging, Pet Cab NYC is a true gem that I am immensely grateful to have discovered.

Thank you, Joanna & Pet Cab NYC, for your outstanding service and unwavering commitment to the well-being of our...
