Wow. Where do I begin? I wonder if the good reviews here are fake or incentivized because there’s absolutely no way people like this. Perhaps they’re relying on a drunk crowd that’s just there for appearances, photos and the club vibe. As soon as you enter, it’s super crowded and the host is unwelcoming and unprofessional. He was so quiet and didn’t even greet us right away. Another lady had to step in and guide him. We were then taken upstairs to our private room. I couldn’t believe that such an expensive place didn’t even have an elevator. The private room was extremely crammed. The seating and table arrangements made no sense and made it impossible for people to have space to sit comfortably. I couldn’t understand why the table wasn’t in two rows against the wall. Instead, it was in a sideways “T” shape. As soon as we sit down, the bottle girl is already bothering us about service. How about at least bring us some tap water first??? Super tacky. Everyone in our party paid hundreds of dollars so they made thousands off of our room alone. Anyways, when a waiter finally came to ask us what we wanted to drink, he made it seem like we only had 4 drink options and that adding flavor would “take too long and be an inconvenience”. That was lazy and very unprofessional. Don’t have large parties if you’re unable to accommodate and get flustered. There’s no excuse because this place is used to being crowded. We ended up ordering drinks with flavor (strawberry margs) and they came out quickly—quicker than the unflavored drinks. So clearly it was a lie about the flavored drinks taking “much longer”. Eventually I ordered a mule and it was not prepared properly. It tasted like it had pulp inside and had an overpowering ginger flavor. Now let me talk about the food. It was absolutely disgusting! Literally inedible and not authentic at all. There’s no way this establishment is Asian owned or prepared by Asian chefs. I’m a foodie and this was NOT it. This place is for mixxy people who just wanna get lit or be ratchet, not for fine dining. Not my scene at all. I only came because I was invited to a surprise birthday event but I would never ever come back. The spring roll filling tasted like coleslaw rather than the traditional mixed veggies. The chicken satay was terrible. No one in our party liked. It looked and tasted too artificial. It upset my stomach after just two bites and I of course didn’t finish it. Why on earth was the chicken orange? Did they use orange food coloring or Cheeto/dorito crust or breading??? And the peanut sauce it was drenched in tasted like cheesy goo. The rock shrimp had a strong, sour mayo taste and should’ve been crispier. The lo mein did not use the correct type of noodles and tasted like seaweed. The filet mignon was mushy in texture and needed seasoning. The red bean chicken was overly salty. The fried rice was bland. I honestly couldn’t believe how gross everything was. How do you mess up on simple Chinese food in NYC? We are the blueprint for Chinese food. We have great Chinese food everywhere. Hood spots have way better Chinese food than Jue Lan. Does 50 cent actually like this place or are they paying him with endorsement deals and using him to attract a certain crowd?? I was really shocked. This had to be the worst tasting dining experience I’ve ever had....

Title: JUE LAN RUINED MY DAUGHTER’S BIRTHDAY — DO NOT GO We started with the original Mr. Chow over 20 years ago and have been visiting the spin-offs for the past 10 — Phillipe Chow, Red Sticks, Sei Less (I know my history, and I know theirs). We’ve been to Jue Lan a few times-my daughter gets take from there about 3 times a month, and we’ve had good experiences — until my daughter’s birthday, which they completely destroyed. Our party of 15 came to celebrate her special day, and it was an absolute nightmare. We paid premium prices for what is marketed as a high-end dining experience, and what we got was cold, sloppy, disrespectful, and utterly humiliating service. My daughter’s birthday was ruined. The restaurant was nearly empty, yet they seated us like we were a burden. Our server was checked out, lazy, and completely uninterested, clearly just waiting to go home. They are used to 20-somethings taking photos for Instagram — we are professional adults, CEOs and VPs at top companies — and they treated us like we didn’t matter. They played with us. I can see exactly how they mistreat the social media youth who don’t know about quality, value, or upscale treatment.

The food was a joke: Chilean Seabass with a thick, slimy sauce and pineapples thrown in — two orders untouched. Lobster tacos tasting weird and unpalatable. Most dishes served lukewarm or worse. Chicken satay sauce cold, because apparently “warm” is too much to ask. We specifically asked for plain ice cream for my daughter — it came with three toppings they didn’t care we didn’t want.

After the meal, our table was left piled with dirty dishes. We sang happy birthday — no one offered to cut the cake. When we asked for the table cleared, it was ignored.

After I paid in full, I spoke to the manager. And this man
looked at me like “so what, I got paid”. Not a word of apology. Not a shred of professionalism. Just a smug, disgusting stare that screamed, “Your satisfaction means nothing.”

As someone in the hospitality industry, I know late-night staff can be tired — but this is not just tired, this is incompetence, arrogance, and total disrespect.

My daughter’s birthday was destroyed. We spent top dollar. The only way to salvage the night was going to McDonald’s afterward.(what's crazy is they didnt see how much food was uneaten)

Jue Lan doesn’t care about birthdays, families, or paying customers. They care about looking trendy on Instagram while serving a toxic experience.

Do yourself a favor: go to Mr. Chow or Sei Less. Do not, under any circumstances, waste your money, your time, or your special occasion at Jue Lan. EVER.

Wannabe social media grab!! plenty of other picture worthy,...

On Tuesday September 22nd my friends and I had the worst experience ever at Jue Lan Club during our weekly girls night with the so call Manager Eddie. My friend had originally made our reservations for a group of 4 and than called and changed the reservations for a group of 6. During what I would assume is Eddie’s rounds he approached the table and stated that we cannot have 6 people at the table. We had advised him that’s what our reservations were for and was told it would not be a problem. Within minutes he came back to the table to address us and state the reservations for 4. Again we advised that we were told the reservations for 6. With his mask down he proceeded to try and move a chair and started to antagonize us as a group. Immediately he got upset when we asked for his name and told us “when writing you review make sure to use my name “! We let it go Eddie then came back and continued to antagonize the table instead of finding a resolution and stated he is a manager. As a manager for over 5 years at one of the largest furniture retail companies in the northeast I could never or would never use the tone he used with a group of black women especially during the volatile times we are living in. We have spend our hard earn money at Jue Lan over the years , this summer alone with Covid running ramped we have spent minimum $4000 at this establishment. After going to Jue lan for the last 3 years (throwing multiple parties in the upstairs room)brunch and having casual dinners I will never be returning. I am utterly disgusted that as a man he kept trying to antagonize a table of females and continued to be disrespectful as a “Manager “. When my friend went to go look for other management she was informed by by Dara that at Jue lan “we do not look at people as men and females “ so his approach was acceptable. If I learned anything that after after having a manager be nasty to, over hear our conversation and return to tell me exactly what he wants us to write as his review out a terrible tacky look for Jue lan . If this establishment is okay with men acting the way Eddy did then as black female you will never get a dime from me ever again . I truly love Jue Lan and always let everyone know how good this place is. I have learned that women especially black women will continue to be the most disrespected and the most unprotected group in America ! uI’m truly sorry for the owner who has always given us a...
