We had a shocking experience this weekend at K’far.
We have been here multiple times, and love it. We booked brunch weeks in advance for a nice meal with family this time around.
Our reservation was for 2:30. We were sat right away, even though one of in our party was running late. Ordered a few drinks and an app, and our waiter disappeared for about 10-15 minutes. When she finally reappeared, she asked us if we were ready to order, as the kitchen was closing very soon. Note this was already 2:55, first time we were notified the kitchen was closing at 3pm. One of our party was in the restroom, and as soon as she returned we placed our order.
5 minutes later, the manager comes to the table. He tells us that several items (2 of the 4 entrees and a shared starter) the kitchen was not able to make bc it was now closed. We were shocked – not only did our waiter disappear for 10+ minutes, she had only told us of the closing minutes before, and we got our order in ASAP. On top of that, the manager was so oblivious that he expected us to stay and eat the meal, while half the table sat and watched. Note this was around 3:02pm at this point. We were shocked – shocked that our meal was not put in in time as we barely had warning; and shocked that the manager would think we would want to stay when only half of the party could eat. I expressed this to the manager multiple times, and asked if he could please make an exception for us, being that the late order was not a fault of our own, and for my wife who is 8 months pregnant and certainly could not just sit and watch us eat our meals.
The manager came by and said nothing could be done. Some how still expecting that we would stay, we had to explain very clearly to him why we would not, and we left to get a fantastic brunch at Café Mogador down the street.
I have never been treated this bad at a restaurant. A shame, as we love this restaurant, but will...
Read more*Pistachio Sticky Bun, Almond Challah Danish, Scallion Feta Borekas Pistachio Sticky Bun was easily my fav item among all. The bun was coated with a thin glaze but not too sweet. Bouncy and soft bread texture with perfect swirls. Topped with crushed pistachio nuts. A comforting bake that pistachio lovers have only ever dreamt of.
*Masabacha Hummus, Crispy Mushroom Hummus Each hummus came with two warm and fluffy pita bread. Many people compared their hummus to Laser Wolf's, a hit Israeli restaurant which is just located upstairs from K'Far. The Masabacha contained a pile of whole chickpeas in the hole of the creamy tahini sauce, sprinkled with parsley. The Crispy Mushroom was a huge surprise as the mushrooms were very well seasoned. Every scoop was filled with nuttiness.
*Egg & Cheese Jerusalem Bagel I am a sucker for Jerusalem bagels but unfortunately this one was a total failure. The bagel was flattened, stale and looked burnt, while the square egg wasn't fluffy and tasted bland. I expected more za'atar spice but there wasn't a lot. I should go back to Librae to remind myself how delicious a Jerusalem bagel could be.
My Recommendation: Pistachio Sticky Bun, Crispy Mushroom Hummus
Worth Returning ? Yes! Friendly service, cozy ambiance and aesthetic food...

I ordered the arayes with an Arabic salad and a coffee. They were both good but not great in comparison to the offerings I've had at other Israeli restaurants.
The music was descent but I prefer to cut to the chase as K'far as ambiance is concerned.
There was one guy with glasses who came and asked me to leave my seat by the staircase to make room for a family who needed my chair.
Just like that. Abruptly. Callously. Coldly!
I wasn't quite finished savoring my meal and yet the guy was so rude about ushering in a new group of people to replace me that it left me shocked and taken aback.
The group could have sat elsewhere but he told me to give up my seat and table just to build a bigger one for it.
Some may enjoy the food here but I will not be coming back to this place because of the experience.
To be fair, it was only one member of the staff at K'far who had been unbelievably rude but he alone caused the place to come off as lacking the patience and possessing the desperation restaurants strapped for cash are notable for.
My recommendation is to look elsewhere if what you seek are high quality...
