Kaffe — Restaurant in New York

I come very often because my daughter goes to her competitive swim class practice and they use BMCC’s pool. This is a 3-4 minute walk from there so I bring my laptop and stay here for abt 1.5-2 hours. Of course I can’t stay without buying anything so like clockwork I would get an oat or matcha latte with food, either salad or some pastries. It’s quite convenient for me to stay here but I have yet to get good service here. Today, Sunday at 9:48am, I ordered a matcha latte. I specifically asked for a regular cup because I’m going to sit here. Barista says sure. Of course I gave a 20% tip coz they flip that iPad infront of u before they even do anything for you. Did I get my regular cup that I requested? Nope! And this isn’t the first time. This has happened over and over and over. I asked the barista why she didn’t give me what I asked for she goes oh I didn’t hear you. She actually asked me specifically if I was staying to which I responded yes. This is normally not a big deal but come on, listen. I am always expected to give tip but I can never expect customer service. Just plain...

Interestingly enough, my boyfriend just started a new job and was excited to be working across the street from kaffe. We don't find ourselves regularly in Tribeca, but we liked it when we were there before. He is passionate coffee drinker and really appreciates good coffee.

After his first week of work, this past Friday, I had to go down to meet him and my phone had some sort of failure and died. He had chatted me the address but all I remembered was the cross streets and I had no way of contacting him. I had no idea what building he was in and I was supposed to call him when I got there and I couldn't because my phone was broken. I walked in to Kaffe and explained the situation. Great food and friendly staff. Not sure how things are after 9am but I purposely come to work 20 minutes earlier if I know im going to breakfast here... The only reason the spot didn't get 5 stars from me... Some days when im only 15 minutes early for a client that lives a block away I usually have to go somewhere else due to time restraints... but in all honesty to make good food and drink you need more time so I completely understand... Or maybe my patience levels are minimal... Either way one of my favourite spots in the neighbourhood... I've done breakfast and lunch here on multiple occasions and plan on continuing to indulge in their delicious methodology... Also chocolate croissant is g/dly... Better than Europe and im borderline obese due to my gluttony... but...
