Kenny Bakery — Restaurant in New York

Don't underestimate this small bakery in the heart of Dyckman street because it's a little piece of heaven on earth. I grew up in this neighborhood as a child and now I drive from my place in Chelsea sometimes to get a cup of their incredibly rich, smooth, and decadent coffee. I have been to so many coffee shops in Manhattan and there is not one that can compare to the coffee being served fresh every MINUTE in this shop.

Now let's talk about their pastries. I pair my extra strenght coffee with either their columbian Pan de Bono, their ham and cheese rolls, or their potatoes balls (rellenos de papa). Their sandwiches aren't extravagant but are absolutely delicious. And if you have not eaten dominican cake, well today is your day. I'm half Italian and I have to say we have nothing on island style bizcocho! My favoritas will always be tres leche (3 milks) and bizcocho de Guayana (dominical cake with guava filling) 😍.

For those moving into the neighborhood, this will be your one of your favorite stop in place on a daily basis. Please be patient since there is always a small crowd but so worth the wait. Oh how I wish I was closer. Coffee is the essence of my life!

I wish I could give no stars because they don't deserve any. I bought a slice of bread pudding and two slices of what I thought was pineapple Dominican Cake. They were all old and spoiled. If I had smelled the cake before going home, I would have left it right there. They cake was spoiled and the bread pudding was dry, tasteless and dry. I went there with so much excitement since I wanted some bizcocho dominicano. I ended up getting suspiro, coco cubano, bizcocho and chocolate donut since everything look good. When I got home home the cake was SPOILED. I couldn’t believe I spitted it out and gave them the benefit of the doubt. Then I tried the suspiro and IT WAS SPOILED TOO!
