Have been coming here for a few years, guess it’s time to let it go and find another spot.
We used to come to this place a lot, but they have gone down in quality a lot, the flavors are chalky and grainy, very commercial. Guess that’s expected when you expand a lot and lose focus on quality.
This location also has very inexperienced staff that have never worked in customer service. The manager is very rude and abrupt in his manner, no smile of any kind, with a behavior that he can’t bear to be there. Asked for pints for our group, and he refused to give a couple of cones or cups to go with them, how bizarre! He kept arguing that we would have to pay extra for cones (which he had run out of and didn’t want to go get a fresh batch either) even though we only asked for a couple. He said we give nothing for free, not even a lid! What kind of behaviour is this?
He ended with ‘we can take the ice cream back’ so if you don’t want to have us as customers, no problem. We gave it back and left….what else to do? Who talks like that??!
We noticed other people have complained about the Asian guys behavior, it is off the charts jaded and rude. You know this is an ice cream shop. You’re supposed to serve a dessert with a smile right? Even the other staff was looking at him as if to say, dude, what’s...
Read moreIt’s inside the Chelsea Market and we went straight here after dinner to get some sweets for our palate. I believe it was Tuesday night and the queue was pretty long- the good thing was it didn’t take a long time from I stepped into the queue until I got my order. We got the Cheesecake with Strawberry mixed with Cioccolato all'Arancia (chocolate with orange) gelatos in a cup. Overall, the flavor was okay for the cheesecake one as I couldn’t really taste the cheesecake while it’s more like milky flavor with some cheesecake chunks. However, I really liked the chocolate with orange one as the flavor was refreshing with a hint of orange yet the chocolate flavor was still there after all. Price-wise, for a small cup with two scoops of two flavors, I think it could be a little lower if we're talking about the portion size. The staffs were great and their service was good to handle a long queue. Would love to try the other flavor if we crossed by the Chelsea...
Read moreWent there today and we were one of the first costumers. I have been here many times and have really liked it. However, first I noticed that some of gelati flavors had melted and had refrozen (could tell with the gelati containers that were not full). So I was disappointed that they were not that fresh or kept properly. The second thing is that after my son ordered a cone and his gelato was melting, I asked for a cup and the person said, that they cost 50 cents! I thought, how could you say that to a kid whose gelato is melting?!!! I was so turned off by this costumer service. I am a life-long NYer and this type of attitude from a business is ridiculous. There are other good gelato places in the city - Amorino, Laboratorio, L'Albero dei gelati in Brooklyn, Monteleone's also in Brooklyn, where I can take my business and get responsive and kind customer service. I guess this is how they treat the tourists...
