Leaving this review so hopefully La Fusta can take some accountability….
To celebrate Father’s Day this year, we wanted to go to our fave restaurant La Fusta. We made a reservation for 6:30pm for 6 people. We were told we’d be accommodated and they looked forward to seeing us.
When we arrived. There was a line and huge wait of people who all had reservations. Everyone had been told to come for their reservation time but none of us had been told when we’d arrive that we’d be waiting in line. There were families with 4 plus people waiting, many with older family members and babies/ toddlers. We were not given a reason for the wait or given an apology of any kind.
Despite the wait, we wanted to stay because the food is always good at La Fusta. However then they made a very racist decision which left a horrible impression on myself and my family. The hostess decided to sit the family AFTER us in line BEFORE us because the white man at the front of their group complained. Supposedly they had a reservation for a half hour before us, but that is not what their family had been saying while they were waiting. They had been saying their reservation was for the SAME TIME as us. Since they were on line after us, they should have been sat after us. However they were intentionally sat before us. As a family of latinos, it was hard not to perceive that decision as blatantly racist.
We have frequented La Fusta for many years and for many special occasions. However, after this overt racism we’re left considering if we’ll ever return. Such a shame considering that their staff is predominantly latino as well.
Hoping La Fusta takes some accountability for this decision and reaches out to...
Read moreOne of my buddies invited me to have dinner at LA Fusta on Saturday night and since it had been a while since I came, I accepted. The parking in this area has always been challenging, but the meal that awaits you here is certainly worth looking for one! As I mentioned before, I had not been here for a while but there was a sense of familiarity walking in the front. This place has been a staple of the neighborhood for decades and still did not disappoint. The owner recognized both my buddy and I and greeted us which is very nice of her. The waited who has been here for decades also recognized us and gave us a warm family style welcome. We were both not having any alcohol because of lent and they understood immediately. The waiter quickly made a ginger ale and cranberry juice which was quite refreshing. I ordered it 2 more times during the meal. Normally a pitcher of red sangria would have been in the table! I will certainly do that next time I return.
They are known for their delicious empanadas! They are so delish. Instead, we ordered a shrimp cocktail and the watercress / Shrimp salad. This salad consists of quite a few shrimps, watercress, red onions, tomatoes, lime beans, avocado in a vinaigrette base. It just tasted so fresh and good. Perfect to start the meal. We both ordered the skirt steak, fries and spinach. There could not have been a more satisfying meal for that night than this! The fries were golden crisp and the spinach was sauteed perfectly for me. If we were not so full, we would have finished with the desserts they offer. Mayne again on another night. I am actually looking forward to coming back to...
Read moreThe food was outstanding the times I was there before. You may ask why I’m rating this restaurant 2 stars. Last week, I’ve ask a question outside the restaurant to the worker on why the restaurant wasn’t opened yet during normal business hours. It was 12:12pm on a weekday. It seems the workers comes as they please and half of dozen customers tried to open the door to dine in, however moved along and losing business. 12pm is THE national time for Lunch time. You cant just come in at 12pm to start getting prepare. When I asked a question outside the establishment, the worker ignored me four times. Some old lady passing by as a pedestrian stop and told the worker he’s being rude ignoring my question. What is wrong with you? If that’s how you treat someone that BEFORE appreciate the service, I’m leaving a bad review and say stay way from this place due to the belligerence I have received. I do not reward bad behavior. To bad, I’ve planned on dining in every week, but instead I’m searching for my...
