La Nueva Colombia — Restaurant in New York

I came across this restaurants page on instagram. It looked like a beautiful place and it was my sisters birthday so i thought it was the perfect place for the occasion (huge mistake) we live 40 mins away but I thought it would be worth it. When we enter I am a little taken back because it is such a small place. It appears as a deli. I was so confused I had to make sure I was at the right place. There are probably 4 tables there that a party of 4 can sit. The tables are so close to each other and you cant sit at the tiny little bar either because the tables and chairs are against the chairs at the bar. Me and my sister and nephew were not even greeted or acknowledged. We stood there for about 10 minutes and my sister had to ask for a table. And all the tables were occupied because there are about 4 tables there! So we wait and decide let's give it a chance. And that was another huge mistake! We are seated and of course the table we get is next to the garbage can. It takes about 15 minutes for our orders to be taken and I felt the waitress was rushing only us for our order. My nephew only drinks water and we are told they do not have water! Then our food comes and we are not offered extra plates, we get up and ask for the extra plate because no one cared to ask us how everything was. The food was not good at all, it was such a disappointment because we love Colombian food. The atmosphere was not friendly, it was just so bad I cant stress it enough. We pay and leave and at one of the stop lights there was a person selling bottles of water. I felt like telling him to go sell the place water since they didnt have any. But I just gave the gentleman money instead. He was nicer than the workers that worked there. I highly advise no one goes there. Customer service is everything especially now with social media. I even wrote to the Instagram page and of course no response.

Update: since my dm was ignored on Instagram I posted under one of the pictures and I was blocked smh. Just shows you how professional this place really is. And i can bet money the positive reviews posted here are from friends of theirs. There is no way possible this place can get more...

Used to be a great place to eat but not anymore because of the service. Recently I took my family out to eat and came here because I had been there before and thought the food/drinks were good. But when I took my mother, I had ordered a pina colada for her and I . We had also ordered some empanadas de carne. When the emapanadas came, I had asked the waitress for their special hot sauce that comes with the empanadas which is what makes them even more delicious. She said they didn’t have anymore. I kinda thought to myself that she should have told me that before bc now we had some dry empanadas. Then the “pina coladas” come in and to say they were nasty sounds rude so I’m going to be nice and say that it was water down from a machine type of drink that made it very unpleasant. I told the same waitress that the drink was not that good and she mentioned that ir was from a machine even though they have a whole selection of drinks and I once remembered seeing a pina colada in their menu that looked WAY DIFFERENT than what we got served which was also in a regular soda glass. The waitress saw that my mother and I were not happy with the drink and she did not bother to do anything about the situation but say it was from a machine and it was what we ordered. Yes technically she’s right, but she would have also explained that our drinks would not come from a bar. Needless to say you couldn’t even taste the alcohol and were charged like it was a regular drink. Overall our experience there was not the best bc of customer service and I know great hospitality because I have also worked at a restaurant and know that it’s our job to make a customer satisfied especially if they are paying more than $100 and leaving tips. I think management should look more into their staff because they also look very upset when they are treating the customers, this is not the first time I see that. Probably won’t go back...

If I could give 0 stars I would. Not because of the food but because of the horrible service we got from “Nadia” or that’s what the bill said. She had blonde hair. We ordered our drinks and main course as soon as we sat. Mind you we ended up ordering something completely different than we had originally planned because she kept saying they were not making the drinks that were on the menu because they were frozen. Minutes later we saw a waiter( the only nice and respectful one) serving the same exact drinks to another table so we called him over and asked him the names of the drinks and when we told him out waitress had told us they were not making frozen drinks he was confused. Then we called the waitress and ask her why she told us they were not making frozen drinks if he was serving it to another customer and she gave him a dirty look like if it was his fault but we were the ones who called him and asked him. Well to make this story short, we waited for our drinks 1 hour and a half and we kept asking her for them and she would tell us “they’re coming” without checking up with the bartender which was right in front of us. Not only that she would roll her eyes at us EVERY SINGLE TIME. We got our food an hour later. We ate the food and we had to cancel the drinks because after an hour and a half they never came. We would have spent more than $100 with the drinks we had ordered. I believe she either forgot to put the order in and didn’t bother take the time to check because she was so annoyed at us or she just didn’t want to serve us at all.
