Moon Cheese Restaurant — Restaurant in New York

I’m REALLY torn on this place. The waitress we had did a few things that were a bit out of line, and kind of offensive.

You can see on the receipt in the photos that she wrote that the tip wasn’t included in the total. I’m not sure why it was necessary to say that. That’s to be expected, and we had every intention to tip. Me and my significant other were both a little taken aback by that, and a little offended. Was there some sort of assumption we weren’t going to tip?

Not only that, she gave us the 12” pizza and not the 16” pizza we ordered, even after we confirmed and pointed at it multiple times on the menu. We also asked for tap water, not bottled. She just said “No.” She didn’t give any explanation. The bottled water cost us more than what they charge for their fruit juices. We would have gotten some other drink if we had known we would have been charged for bottled water anyway.

Needless to say, we felt a bit disrespected, and weren’t terribly happy with how the waitress treated us. Now… the reason I’m so torn about this place is because the man behind the bar when we arrived (assuming the owner?) was so warm and welcoming. He even thanked us many times on our way out. Also, the food here is GREAT. We absolutely loved the Hawaiian burger.

One of the hardest things about this place was the language barrier. We couldn’t understand them and they couldn’t understand us. We placed our order and gave them the address to where we needed the food dropped off. They told us it would take about 30 minutes to get to us. Well… it took 2 hours! We ordered at 8:20pm and got it at 10:25pm. We called multiple times asking where it was and one of those times they hung up on us. We tried to even cancel our order but they said they were already in route so we gave them a little longer. Turns out, they showed up at the wrong location, so we had to wait longer! By the time they got the food to us, it was just a tiny bit warm. Luckily we didn’t have to pay until they delivered the food which made it easier to tell them we aren’t paying full price for this. The delivery driver was shocked as to how long we waited for our food! The food wasn’t bad but I’m sure it would have been great if it was served hot. The service was immaculate. Ana did a fantastic job at giving us a great experience. It was our first time here and she was attentive, kind, and fun! At the end she let us spin the wheel to win a prize and I got a free soda, but I was a little bummed because I wanted to win a free shot, but she gave me it anyways! Not just the service, but the food was actually really good. It is a lowkey place, but with great food with great portions for a fair price. The drinks were definitely potent as well. We ordered the arepas for 2 that came with nachos, colombian hot dog, premium steak fries that came with a fire show, sangria, and a modelo.
