Looks like the rating system is completely useless if this place has 4.9 stars . One order of shawarma platter to go was $16.32 , and as soon as I picked up the bag I realized it was the most expensive lunch I've ever had . As a cab driver in NYC , I eat lunch in Manhattan every day , mostly from food trucks and I've been doing this for the last 25 years , so I know what I'm talking about . I understand this is not a food truck, and rent is high , but there are many other similar places that will put more food in the tray for cheaper . My bag was so light , I started laughing as soon as I grabbed it . Even the hot sauce and tahini sauce on the side were barely filling 25% of that thimble . were they pranking me ?Not to mention there was no fork or napkins in the bag . How do they think I'm going to eat the food ? At least ask me if I need it . I was clearly in a hurry , told them I parked illegally, so I was mostly outside looking for my cab . The food was ok , nothing spectacular. The meat and greens were ok , the rice was not . Anyway , even for someone with more money than a cab driver, it's just not right. A teenage boy after a basketball game will eat 3 times that size to fill satiated. NY Gyro Express was 100 times better . Huge bowls for $10 and a huge selection of home made food . Too bad COVID killed the business. Zerda in Brooklyn is much better. Even Memo on 23 is much better. Turco , Istanbul Kebab , etc I can name so many places that are better and NONE are over 4.5 stars review. Why is...

The aroma of the sizzling shawarmas filled the air, making my mouth water with anticipation. The menu offered a fantastic selection of flavorful options, and the ingredients tasted incredibly fresh.
I opted for their signature Lava Shawarma, and it was a taste explosion! The tender, juicy meat combined with the perfect blend of spices left me craving more. The pita bread was warm and soft, wrapping the shawarma like a comforting hug.
Not only was the food exceptional, but the ambiance was also fantastic. The vibrant decor and upbeat music added to the overall joyous atmosphere. It's evident that the team at Lava Shawarma NYC takes great pride in their craft.
I cannot recommend this place enough! Whether you're a shawarma enthusiast or trying it for the first time, Lava Shawarma NYC is a must-visit spot in Manhattan. Read moreThis is one of my favorite places in NYC because the vibes and the people are so nice.
If you’re looking for a lamb sandwich but nothing from a food truck, this is a great place! The portion is filling and it’s $13. I would say try their grape leaves too, but the makdous is nothing like the actual makdous. Their tabouleh could also be better, finer dicing and more lemon juice.
I was super excited to see makdous offered in NYC but it’s nothing like makdous so don’t spend money on it. However, their sandwiches are great! I haven’t tried their chicken shawarma but my friends said it’s really good.
You can also get ice cream inside the shop! And most importantly, the food is halal!
The restaurant also (I think) sells Zamzam water and various teas.
All in all though, this place good that I went to get their sandwiches 3 days in a row. If you’re on a tight budget but want to eat more than food from the trucks,...
