Sweet Success on Every Layer
My recent visit had me indulging in two of their signature desserts: the red velvet shooter and the tres leche. The red velvet was a decadent explosion of flavor, perfectly portioned in a cute shooter glass. The tres leche was light and airy, with just the right amount of soaking for a delightful melt-in-your-mouth experience.
Beyond these tempting options, Layers Bakeshop boasts a wide variety of cakes for any occasion. Their prices are fantastic, making them a budget-friendly choice for birthdays, graduations, or just a sweet treat at home.
But wait, there's more!
Their brownies, ice cream, and cupcakes are equally delightful. They manage to achieve a perfect balance of sweetness, ensuring you enjoy the flavor without feeling like you've consumed a whole bag of sugar.
Coffee and Blondie Bliss
For those who love a good coffee pairing, Layers Bakeshop doesn't disappoint. Their coffee is strong and flavorful, complementing the moist and soft blondie perfectly.
The Verdict
Layers Bakeshop is a fantastic addition to the Astoria bakery scene. Their delicious treats, friendly service, and amazing prices make it a must-visit for anyone with a sweet tooth. So next time you're in the neighborhood, skip the generic chain store and head to Layers Bakeshop for a taste of...
Read more[Update 3/6/24] Within a day of the post, the owner reached out, wanting to address a few concerns named. I really appreciated this, as I believe that service is just as important as good products. It seems like a lot of the negative aspects of our visit was as a result of some misunderstandings, and the owner was apologetic and understanding of our perception of the experience. Now that that is cleared up, I do want to add that the coffee there is amazing - it's made with buffalo milk, which is sweet enough that you'd swear there was sugar in it. The baked goods (we had a "brownie," cupcakes, and a sundae) were also delicious, moist, and not overly sweet. I'm looking forward to giving this place another try, and bringing others along with me. Thank you, Asad, for caring enough to reach out.
[Original Review 3/3/24] While the food was delicious; but service was lacking. Visited on a rainy day with friends when there were no other customers. There were 2 people behind the counter and the guy seemed friendly enough; but the woman seemed rather annoyed that we were even there. We ordered some treats and a drink to eat there first, and tipped on this order. We also asked for tap water, and was told that the only water was bottled that we had to pay for (I'm pretty sure this is not allowed). We had our desserts and coffee - they were delicious. I went back to order more items to go. The woman still acted annoyed. I did NOT tip this time - why bother? The food itself was pretty good, and I would've liked to go back; but don't really want to revisit a place that doesn't care to...
Read moreI love the cakes here but the guy who was there today was either lazy or incompetent but lying in both.
I went it with my sister to buy a cake for a birthday. Picked it. While the guy took it out of the display, I asked if we can get happy birthday written on it. He said no. I found that strange and I've done it at least twice before. I told him they've done it before. He said "oh we don't do it anymore". I was skeptical as I got my last cake writing there recently so I asked "oh when did you guys stop?" He then said oh it's not that they stopped it's that he doesn't know how to do it or doesn't do it well etc. I was like um okay and my sister used to work in a bakery so she offered to do the writing. He said no. She was confused so she asked "you don't have the cone?" And he said no. This is straight up unacceptable at this point. I would have gone elsewhere if I wasn't pressed on time now looking for a birthday prop to put on it.
I love the cake but that kind of service is not worth returning...
