I had went there today with two other patrons we ordered the vegetable slice the Sicilian and the margarita. We were very excited to try Lenny's pizza for the first time because of the authenticity. When we sat down the other patron I was with took a bite of the vegetable slice and said something tasted and felt like glass in her mouth. She removed the food from the vegetable slice from her mouth and it was a piece of glass. The piece of glass also impacted her tooth which caused some pain at the moment and slight bleeding. We informed the workers behind the counter and at first when we ordered the gentleman also gave us a free zeppole each of us which was good while we were waiting for our food. The worker apologized stating that everything is fresh all the ingredients and there was no ingredients that were from glass jars. This could have been a very serious incident resulting in a fatality however it was concerning how the piece of glass got into the pizza which means that either there was a piece of glass already on the prep area or there was something - he said it was possibly the red peppers-that was prepackaged which the gentleman behind the counter said it could have been with the red peppers or something from the prep area maybe was left behind on the surface where the pizza was being prepared or a piece of glass fallen into the pizza or something could have possibly broke that was glass and gotten into the pizza before it was baked. Either way it was very concerning because it could have been a very serious incident however luckily we caught it in time before my guest had swallowed it. The worker throughout the slice when we brought it back up front with the piece of glass and gave us two Buffalo slices free however just the carelessness and lack of attention in food prep was a huge concern and sadly we would not be returning to Lenny's...
Read moreI hate leaving a poor review for a place that seems loved by so many. Like the old saying goes, "if you can't say something nice, don't say it at all". But it's the reviews that persuaded me to come here, so I feel obligated to throw in my two cents. I understand it's just a local pizzeria and I shouldn't expect much. However, we've been coming here once a week since January and each time we leave more disappointed. At first I thought maybe they were having an off night but each time it gets worse. It's too bad because there's few options for pizza in the vicinity. The pizza is okay at best; the sauce is bland, the crust isn't crispy and there's too much cheese for me (but some people like a lot of cheese, so no points taken away for that). The worst part, and the reason I felt obligated to write this review, is the garlic knots are not just awful, they're inedible! They were so stale, I should have asked for my money back. They were obviously out all day and the staff should have known that. It may sound silly to leave a poor review for garlic knots, but if the garlic knots aren't fresh, what else is left out all day? The meat? The cheese? To end on a positive note, my son thinks their Grandma...
Read moreI was raised in Park Slope, about 7 blocks away from Lenny's. This was at a time when we had great pizza on every other block. A time when nothing but the finest ingredients were used to make a pie. So when I say that Lenny's was 7 blocks away, I sort of mean it might as well of been in another borough because there was no reason to travel that far for good pizza.
Except that Lenny's was that odd place that would be open on the weekends into the wee hours of the morning. So it became a destination after a night out with the old crew.
I recently stopped by to see that much had not changed, but the menu has gotten much larger. The grandma slice is a nod to a Neapolitan slice, but with a touch extra of Lenny's delicious sauce. I also had a white slice there recently that had this perfect fragrance of garlic with just the right blend of ricotta and mozzarella. Go get a slice when in the area, I think you'll be...
