I recently visited this establishment two weeks ago (8/5) to celebrate my Bestie's Birthday. It was such a vibe. The sorrel daiquiris made by the bartender (Tall/long hair) were delicious. The music was right and people were in their zone. Fast Forward to today 8/19. I returned with my friend to toast to the weekend. The bar was pretty empty so I approached to order a drink. A gentleman behind the bar assured me the bartender would be with me. I waited for a few minutes..(10-15).the bartenders weren't attentive. A tall dude with thin braids, light skin and a nasty attitude approached me and says disrespectfully "Don't come here with that attitude rolling your eyes" and at that point I had to check myself to see if he was for real. I gave him some choice words that he needed. How dare you think you can speak to me that way. To top it off the owner Kareem was standing right there and did nothing to protect me. He didn't even ask me if I was ok. Next the the humpty security guard comes to my face and says "Why you yelling" He was not present during the incident. He then tried to police me and tell me I need to calm down. Now that's 3 Black men against me. I can't tell you how Furious I was. I am very disappointed in the lack of professionalism from these Black Men. As a Black Woman I will not stand for that kind of disrespect! KAREEM YOU NEED TO DO BETTER. YOU WERE MORE INVESTED IN TALKING TO THE WOMEN AT THE BAR THEN CHECKING ON YOUR...
Read moreI went to Bunton's for the first time this past Sunday. The bartender was kind, people were friendly, the music was good, and they had food in the back. I was also happy to know it was a Black-owned establishment. So I went again.
Last night, a bartender named Daisy. She has a few tattoos. She began complaining about how she hated Black men and preferred to date Puerto Rican and Dominican men to another patron at the bar. I thought that was crazy as she was working at a Black man's establishment, and she appeared to be Black. I had invited my friend to stop by since I had such a beautiful first time. A guy next to me ordered a rum-like punch, and he complained it was too strong. Daisy yelled over the music and said, "Give it back to me!" Five times. I told him, "ah, okay, because my drink is not as strong." She began causing a scene and said, "I'm not making your drinks! You ask another bartender since I don't make them strong enough!"
I was shocked. She seemed unstable and unable to take feedback well on the drinks. I am not sure what else motivated her to behave that way. Her behavior was supremely unprofessional. People at the bar told me, "Don't worry; she'll get off at 9 PM."
I ended up leaving feeling very disappointed in my experience and...
Read moreBuntons was always a classic staple in the Bushwick area, but it has now come to the point where it is disappointing trying to get in here on a Friday or Saturday night. Staff is always great and respectful, however there is this one rather large bouncer with glasses who remains to be rude, disrespectful, and condescending to the bar goers every weekend. I’m not sure what his deal is but he is always talking down to the people on the line, making aggressive remarks and trying to pocket extra money at the door, which I’m sure Kareem doesn’t know about, which should be going to the Amazing bartenders. This rather large bouncer with glasses single handedly ruins every bodies mood to the point where it is difficult to enjoy your time when you have to deal with that unpleasant interaction everytime you head to Buntons. I love supporting black owned businesses however until this particular bouncer with glasses learns about basic human interactions and stops trying to solicite money for himself at the door, me nor my clique of people who frequent Buntons will...
