Wow honestly very disappointed with this pizza:((( I was so excited to try it out, based on reviews it was one of the best gluten-free pizza in town. So I placed an order on Grubhub in advance today on 4th of July for small Vegan Margherita pizza with Gluten free crust. It arrived burnt, very salty, almost no tomato sauce, no San Marzano tomatoes - as stated on description and the cheese tasted like regular one instead of Vegan 🥹🥹🥹 I’m honestly shocked that they taught it’s okay to send out this for delivery. The crust is good though but it’s impossible to eat because it tasted only like regular cheese, very salty and burnt :(( Very disappointed and hope that they will make it right by refunding!
Edit and updating the rating after they reached out to me.
The owner contacted me personally after the manager and listened to my concerns and did invited me to the restaurant and offered solutions and of course full refund. I saw that he truly cares about not only the restaurant but also me as a costumer. I appreciated that and truly felt that from him.
I still won’t take it back that the pizza is burnt not only on the look but also taste. I ordered and ate pizza with vegan cheese many times and it never came this brown and tasted burnt.
Since I rarely eat pizza and this restaurant located in another neighborhood I haven’t gone there yet. I’ll update if I ever ended up...
Read moreDuring my recent visit, something threw a wrench into what would have been another enjoyable time. Hidden at the bottom of the bill was a surprise—a credit card fee tacked on without warning. It’s a small charge, sure, but it left a bad taste in my mouth. For a place that prides itself on hospitality, this felt petty, as though they value a few extra cents over creating a seamless customer experience. I would like to remind the owners that according to New York law, businesses cannot advertise a price and then add a surcharge at the point of sale.
What’s more, the switch to a QR code for the drink menu added another layer of inconvenience. I appreciate the need to keep up with the times, but there’s nothing quite like flipping through a physical menu. Navigating the drinks on my phone was cumbersome and disrupted the relaxed atmosphere that Macoletta otherwise does so well.
It’s disappointing because I’ve enjoyed this spot in the past. But these small yet telling details suggest a shift in priorities, from customer experience to squeezing out every last penny. I hope they reconsider, as Macoletta has the potential to be a truly stellar...
Read moreWhen it comes to “Italian”(not Italian-New York) pizza, I favor a more Roman-style -which can have more of bread-like dough. Some textures vary from a fluffy, focaccia-like to a flatbread taglio. My preference is something right in between -a balance of outer light-crisp, fluffy inner, and toppings that are perfectly cooked. This is my “holygrail” for pizza. So, as you can imagine, I shy away from the Napoletan variety. BUT, my partner was jonesing for a Napolitan style and so I caved.
We chose to try Macoletta. Wonderful!!!!!!!!!! I never thought I would get a Napoletan pie where it had a crispy, yet fluffy, bubbly rim!
And, a center that wasn’t so damp (other Napoletan pizzerias make pies which are impossible to eat, even with the fork/knife).
Perfectly cooked & seasoned toppings!
And, the fact you can mix and match toppings, added to my elation.
In summary, if you’re someone who prefers Napoletan pizza, you’re in for a treat. No overly, soggy middles or undercooked, bland toppings here! And if you’re also a Roman-style pizza enthusiast, you will not be...
