Ratings: 3.5 Why? Because I went here today; Also 5-6 years prior to this i had 3 different occasions where i ordered lamb, just to go home and find out it was chicken/beef. One of those times tried giving it back to them as per “This is not what I ordered.“ They told me they “ran out”. I told them they shouldve call me back. This guy gave me attitude. Decided i wouldn’t go back. My friend mentioned them to me recently so i thought i’d give it one last whirl. Ordered a lamb and a beef rice platter. After trying many halal spots in Queens; #1 shop is Halal Eats in Elmhurst in terms of price point, taste, quantity it’s perfect. Best Cart is Habiba’s either Sunnyside or Astoria… But this spot was a more egyptian style spot. Lamb platter had much more meat than the beef. Don’t think they have a white sauce. But they have Tahini sauce. They also give you tomatoes, lettuce, eggplant sauté and Fries. Oh and a lot of chunky raw white onion (maybe sauté that too). Barely got two tiny pieces of eggplant. The yellow rice they use is the fat fluffy rice. Not my favorite texture for halal food so it felt like a bit too much. Couldve put a tad more lamb cus there was rice left over. My overall experience was better. Didnt get the wrong items so good on that part. Maybe have a white sauce as an option cus we did ask for a lot of white sauce and got tahini. I think this is a fair rating as its different from the typical halal spots but it’s just not my kind of halal based on my experience. And by no means am I saying spot is bad. Its Good, just hit different for me. To each there own.

I recently visited Mahmoud's Corner Halal Food Cart and had a mixed experience. The service was fantastic; I believe the person who served me was one of the owners. He was incredibly nice and friendly, which made the visit pleasant. However, the food left much to be desired. I ordered a chicken sandwich wrapped in pita, which unfortunately turned out to be quite disappointing. The sandwich mostly consisted of fries with very little chicken, making it not worth the money I spent. The service at Mahmoud's Corner Halal Food Cart was beyond excellent, but the food quality needs improvement. The sandwich I received did not meet my expectations, primarily due to the lack of chicken and the way it is priced.

They are ok in my mouth, not the best Halal food but also not the worst I have ever had in the past. You know on how you're really looking forward to something and after you try it, you feel like it was a let down. Well that's what happened with me. I just feel they have room for improvement. I really give them a 3 1/2 star rating. One thing I didn't agree with is, everything that's posted on the menu was not available for purchase. Plus, some of these pictures posted seemed to have much better portions than what I got on my visit. I'm really not a fan to their fried egg plant. The seasonings they use for flavors on the meats, is good. There white sauce with a little hot sauce also help in flavor.

Was at work Saturday on Roosevelt Island and was in the mood for halal and decided to try this place. I've driven in nyc for almost 2 decades and love halal food and have tried many places in far corners of the city. Some are bad, others very basic, some try to add their own personal touch to distinguish themselves but Mahmouds was probably the most flavorful I've had. Portion was proportional with price. Was greeted with a smile and warm welcome. Heard someone ordering saying that he came from Staten Island just to order this food. It could've been Jersey but that's too preposterous so let's go with SI. Will definitely go back.

03/05- 2nd time going here in a couple of weeks and the experience was much different. The nice man that smiles was not there which is fine. I paid with card this time and was charged $2 extra which is also fine but I think if its a surcharge it should be posted somewhere or he just took it upon himself to take a tip. Third, the portions were much different. I'd say it was 10% lamb and I'd say that's a generous estimate, so much rice, less fries and eggplant from the last time. Was still flavorful but not happy with all that rice. Hit or miss and I think I'll skip...

The best, HOWEVER. Completely different level of care from the bearded and friendly gentleman during the day and the clean shaved angry gentleman at night.

The food is great and the only thing I want to say is the gentleman at night is not friendly and twice now he has acknowledged my modifications (I always get the same thing…half a scoop of rice and salad, no eggplant, with lamb and very light white) but it’s never correct when he works. If he doesn’t want to make the modifications just say so.

The gentleman during the day is always happy and has no problem doing it and it’s always perfect.

Literally a night and day difference. I guess I just won’t come at night or whenever the mean face man is working 😂

Just be careful if you have allergies because he does not acknowledge preferences at night.

Still love them and the best...
