Let’s start with the ambiance. The place has been done up nicely and I think it is better than the Embers days. You can sit at the bar, by the bar or in a separate room. Service: great service! The bartender, host, and waiter were all very welcoming and made us feel the way a business should make their customers feel. Food: my buddy got a ribeye and I got a NY strip, which I use as a benchmark when I visit a steakhouse for the first time. We split a wedge, a steak tartar and the bacon. All were exceptional and the steaks, although expensive, were cooked properly using the correct equipment. You can tell by the char on the outside. Perfectly salted, perfectly charred and perfectly cooked!! Drinks were well made. The Bad: Pricing is a bit expensive for Bay Ridge but not a problem for a great meal. A party of three that came for the first time was happy until the bill arrived. They charged us 4% for a credit card fee and then taxed that on top of it. First of all, the legal way to do this is to give a cash discount not penalize a credit card. It is against the law to charge a penalty for credit card usage but even more illegal is making it a line item pre tax then charging tax on the 4%. Guys…. I get it. This has become the flavor of the day with many businesses because many customers don’t know the legality of this and are ashamed to challenge it. It is a shame to lose customers over $11 on a $300 bill. Customers that would have come back if it wasn’t for the credit card hustle. If this get corrected and done the legal way, not only will I give you guys a five star, but you will have me as a repeat customer. Don’t take advantage of people. It is a shame to lose customers over pocket change that is already included in your price. I am sure we are not the only ones. We all need each other out here. There are many restaurant out there that are not participating in this illegal sham.

The place advertises itself as an”old school steakhouse” unfortunately it does not have that fell at all. It feel like a modern day burger joint with the lights and disco ball and a TV in the dining room!!!! For a second i wasn’t sure if this was a stake houce or just a bar. We were sat 20 min past our reservation time which is fine, new place in the neighborhood they were packed! The table where we were sat, the floor had a slant so the whole time i felt like i was sitting in a handicap ramp sliding to my left. The food is very very good BUT you will need to order and try as you go because staff is very uneducated in regards to the menu, anything that we picked from the menu and had a question on was either not available or the server had to go and ask the manager. Many things were not available. I ask for a wine list, i was told they do not have one but will get back to me and let me know that they have, never came back. We had to ask several different staff member for different things as out waiter/waitress was not really paying attention to us. It was apparent the dinning room staff was weak and unprofessional, meaning when i spend $$$ i expect a little more then what we got as far as service goes. Not going to lie the service was beyond disappointing, but we will be back to give it another try in few months hopefully they have it figured out by then. I definitely recommend it as the food really was good at least most of it. They charge 4% if you pay with a credit card which means they actually make $ off you using a credit card (standard merchant service fee is 2.95%) - i didn’t appreciate that as it was not mentioned by anyone nor did it say it in the menu which its should according to the state. Receipt is attached to this, dinner for 2 i tipped $60 on top of what you see even thou they didnt deserve it but everyone needs to make a living so thats that!

EDIT: i guess some people do not know the meaning of reservation. when you make a reservation for a certain time, it’s that time, not 45 mins or 1.5 hours or 3 hours after.

Reserved for 8:30 PM on Valentine’s Day. We walk in at 8:30 PM on the dot to see over 5 groups of people all lined up to check in. We thought that maybe they didn’t have a reservation and so we asked, and they said they all made a reservation for either 8:00 PM or 8:30 PM. We were 90% sure they overbooked but with Valentine’s Day being busy everywhere, we stayed and waited to check in. WE WAITED A WHOLE 15-20 MINS BEFORE WE WERE EVEN CHECKED IN with a reservation. The hostess (the one with so much lip filler you’d recognize her right away) cheerfully said 15-20 mins extra wait. At that point it was 8:54PM exactly and so we decided to wait. 15 mins turned 30 and 30 mins turned to an hour. At this point, our 8:30PM has turned into 1.5 hour wait WITH A RESERVATION. The other couples that were in front of us were still waiting as well. We were all getting annoyed because not only did they overbook us, but the hostess blatantly lied about it being another 15-20 mins when it was clearly impossible. And she kept telling the new couples who walked in. And knowing that these couples were there to celebrate a holiday, instead of keeping them there waiting for hours on end, the right thing to do should’ve been the truth so that they can decide whether to leave or not. Anyways, we kept on waiting and at this point, it was 9:45PM and I was getting frustrated and so, I expressed to my significant other. The other couple who came in not too long ago overheard me and asked me how long I was waiting for and I said almost two hours. And when she asked me again, I double checked the time, and corrected it to hour and a half. Waited for another 10 mins, the hostess finally tells us to take a seat. I checked the time at that very moment again, 9:54. IT TOOK AN HOUR AND A HALF TO SIT WITH A RES! Keep in mind, the entire time I didn’t give a problem to the workers in there at all. I never once asked and bothered them. I kept the frustration to myself and shared the frustration with the other customers. The hostess comes by with the menu and asked, “Honey, what time was your reservation again?” in which I responded 8:30. She then said, with the most passive aggressive tone, “Then it hasn’t been two hours.” I was shocked. Not only did I wait an extra 1.5 hours without making a sound, but now you are insisting that I lied to your other customers (which i didn't because i corrected myself and she probably didn't hear that part). And the most hypocritical thing is that she also lied about it being 15-20 mins! and for your restaurant to overbook, you have the audacity to make a comment. For what? For personal relief? The behavior was so disgusting that I just got up and left, just like the other couples on the line that was treated with passive aggression when asking simple questions. I will never give such business my money and neither should you. If you’re looking for a steakhouse, go to chadwick’s instead. It gives real steakhouse vibes and the workers are actually nice...
