I had just completed a track workout with my son and we were both hungry. I was about to bring him to a diner in Bay Ridge to order from the breakfast menu, but I wanted to try a different restaurant for a change. The Common has a separate breakfast/brunch menu and a lunch/dinner menu. When we entered, the place was warm and inviting. I was immediately impressed by the four men cooking in the open kitchen in the middle of the restaurant. The decor had a natural, woodsy feel to it. I ordered the Mediterranean Omelet. It was very well-presented with a side of arugula salad covered with a tasty house dressing. The dish was delicious. My son ordered a three-grain bowl which included pulled pork, avocado, radish, pickled onions, cilantro, and a poached egg. The three grains consisted of quinoa, brown rice, and bulgur. My son who is now a teen and doesn't talk much appeared to have a very enjoyable time eating this dish. The total bill for our meal was comparable to what we would have been charged had we had breakfast at the nearby diner. However, this place was a few notches higher in quality than a diner. The menu offered a lot of variety as well as interesting dishes. Some items that stood out were pastrami grilled cheese, mango mint iced tea, breakfast nachos, and avocado smoothies. I definitely want to return here to check out the dinner menu.

Had been here for brunch. It was a Sunday but we were seated pretty quickly. There was barely a wait of 10 mins max. We started off with chips and dip appetizer and mango mint iced tea. Loved the take on the chips and dip. The dip was fabulous with smoked salmon and cream fraiche. The tea was okay very watery and unsweetened. We had to ask for sugar. We then got eggs Benedict with fried chicken and skillet number 2. Loved both the dishes. The skillet had a sour and tangy soupy broth with potatoes and poached eggs served with pita. The egg Benedict was delicious as well. However the fried chicken lacked seasoning. Would have loved if it had a little more flavor to it. It came with a side of fried potatoes and arugula. The portion sizes were good and the food was very filling. Friendly service and comforting space.

It's Easter Sunday an we were brain storming for places that may or may not be open on this holy holiday. We wanted to go to The Common, but were they open? Eh... So we got dressed and took a walk to the restaurant and low and behold, the restaurant was open!

Stuffed with people, The Common was moving and jiving as always. Luckily, they had a small table in the back, so we took a seat, and peered over the menus. We decided what we wanted, just at the same time someone swooped over to deliver our water, our starter drinks, take our orders and get everything in the works.

No more than 10 minutes later...

Picturesque plates of scrumptious food were delivered to our table, with customizations on-point; Everything perfect. The Fresh Toast Sammich - My Man consumed that faster than a shredder machine gets through a tax return. Seriously. It was perfect. My Ratatouille was drop-your-fork-roll-your-head-back-in-amazement divine. It was so good, I was shocked that ratatouille could BE that good. I personally make ratatouille, and mine is delicious but it isn't THAT amazing.

We finished as much as we could, because portions were hefty, took the leftovers (because leaving that would have been stupidity) and paid our bill. Very affordable - two people for under $40. Left a large tip, because they certainly deserve it, picked up our bag of yummies, and headed home.

We visit The Common consistently; Usually once a week. It's a staple business in our community, and it's an incredible gem for those who are visiting from outside of Bay Ridge or for the locals who haven't...

I am in love with this place. I was recommended to come here by another family member and the experience over all DID NOT disappoint!

My husband and I went in at 11am during a weekday. Surprisingly, it was packed. You would think people would be at work or school. They told us it would be a 20 min wait. We left my name and number and I got a phone call within 10 minutes.

The place itself is super inviting and comfortable. The staff are monsters (in a good way) at what they do. The cooks are nonstop cooking delicious and aromatic foods. The owner (I assume) has a great flow of making sure things run smoothly. It was almost magical watching him. The coffee is AMAZING!! My husband had a hot coffee and I had iced. Despite it being packed, our water was always refilled without asking. When it came time to order, I asked for guidance and he pointed me to a skillet dish, two eggs over potatoes, mushrooms, and spinach with a side of sausage (it tasted like kielbasa). The portions were perfect and my skillet was definitely shareable, i gave some sausage and potatoes to my husband. The spices and the way they were cooked were perfect. My husband has eggs and corn over an arepa, it looked beautiful and it tasted magnificent. We did share a starter and it was potatoes with a creamy side, sooooo good. I still think of those until today. Definitely try this place out and if its busy, its...
