Me and my family came across this place after getting set up in our hotel just down the street, and we were blown away.
The atmosphere was pristine, our service provided by Orlando was excellent, and the food here was nothing short of fantastic. I had the perfectly cooked, delicious Malone Burger, and my Irish mother said their Shepherd’s Pie was The best she’s ever had in her life. The home made lemon meringue pie was also incredible, so I couldn’t recommend this place enough to anyone lucky enough to dine here! It deserves all the love and more, so go eat here asap!
Update: my family ended up visiting here five times during the week we were in New York. That’s how much we came to love it as our local watering hole. The entire staff are great at helping you feel right at home which is a gift to find in an otherwise massive, hectic city.
I also tried out their chips and curry which was delicious and offered tender chicken that melts in your mouth. The curry has a bit of heat to it, but it was delicious as well if you enjoy some spice in your meal. I also loved their proper Full Irish Breakfast they offer. The sausage and bacon taste exactly like they do back in Ireland, and they even import this stellar drink directly from there called Club Orange!
We’re gonna miss this place, and I hope we get to visit this terrific establishment again the next time we visit New York City! Thanks for the memories...
Read moreMy family had a memorial gathering for our late father here and we cannot say enough great things about this place.
In particular, the service was outstanding! It was standing room only and Oleg, our waiter, worked his way through our dense crowd with grace, magically appearing whenever an order needed to be placed, never once did a single person have to look for him to ask for something (and there were literally dozens of us). And he did it all with a smile on his face.
We also had the pleasure of meeting the owner and she was friendly, accommodating, charming - an all around wonderful person. She embodied the spirit of hospitality.
The food was great, the drinks were great, the bathrooms were clean as a whistle (with really pretty and pleasant smelling hand soap I might add), the whole pub was clean with nary the stench of cleaning fluid . This is an all around great pub.
They have won me over as a customer. I neither live nor work nearby but I will now make a "pilgrimage" to support this very deserving business whenever I can.
p.s. I want to add that the location was perfect for us. We had locals who walked, locals who took the subway, suburbanites who hopped into the big city easily via Grand Central, drivers who parked at the several garages within a 2 minute walk, and out-of-towners who stayed at a hotel just a couple of...
Read moreMalone's Irish Bar and Restaurant is your typical Irish Pub, which is a good thing. In this day and age many are trying to mess with a tried and true formula in order to stand out, but Malone's stays true to Irish faire. This is why you will find the patrons of this establishment have Irish and English accents, they feel at home. The decor is traditional and inviting, a little tight near the bar area, but acceptable. The wait staff is efficient and timely. There is wide selection of beers and spirits. I noticed they have some small distillery labels which I appreciate and the quality of most mainstream whiskies have declined over the years. The food is "A-" to "A". I had the corned beef and cabbage, which I know is an Irish-American dish, but it has come to be expected at any Irish pub, but rarely found for some reason unless it's around St.Patrick's day. The boiled potatoes were great, the meat and cabbage both were tender. I also had the sweet chilli wings and they were AWESOME. My friend had the shepherd's pie and was thoroughly satisfied, took half home and told me how he enjoyed the leftovers even a few days later.
If you decide to go to Malone's you will not be...
