If I could give zero stars for the food, I would. I haven't been to Mamoun's at the MacDougal St. location in about 12 years. I remember it to be okay in the past, but what we got yesterday was AWFUL. No seasonings, no flavor, not even salt. I don't know what the noise is about, my husband and my meals were probably the worst dining experiences we've had in a very long time. The menu says you have a choice of salad or rice for the platters, I selected rice for both our platters and got a pile of freezing cold, wet lettuce/salad, all laid out on bottom, making the rest of the food on top of it ice cold, including the little bit of parboiled rice that had absolutely no flavor either. The lamb kafta was a generous portion, however, cold, hard, dry and bland as hell. Couldn't eat even half of it. Husband's shawarma was full of fat, cold, also no flavor at all. I paid $3.00 for the "pickled veggies" on their menu and got a pile of sliced regular PICKLES that I can get from ShopRite. Falafel was also flavorless. I ordered and paid for a Coke and they didn't bother to put it in the bag. What a waste of $40! Also, cash only in today's times? I will not contribute to anyone's shady business practices. NEVER AGAIN. DON'T BOTHER- and ignore the hype- there are plenty of other places to eat in NYC. Keep walking and find yourself any random Halal cart that will give you a mountain of authentic, fresh, hot food that is healthy and full of flavor...and for half the price. And a lot of them accept credit cards like a...

Went there with a lot of expectations as this place is really famous in online food blogs and NYC’s must have youtube travel videos. The taste of shawarma falafel was ok not that unique, you can get same quality falafel from the food trucks at time square. As a tourist, take out is not always an option, and the sitting area in-front of the shop was as worst as it can get. Tables were dirty, it was smelling like nobody cleaned the place in days, dirty water was accumulated right in the place where you were suppose to sit and eat if you don’t prefer takeout. I cannot trust a place to be shiny clean and hygienic from inside if it looks that bad from outside. Also the funny part was the restaurant right next to mamoun’s on both sides had similar sitting arrangements but they were really clean and cared about their customers hygiene. Conclusion: if you really want to go to a place that has a rich history and famous in online blogs and videos, you can go there and try their falafel but always prefer a takeout. If you are a traveller and don’t give that much importance to ratings and popularity, go to a food truck at time square (we went to the food truck right in front of McDonald and they are as good as them). Choose any food truck, i bet it is worth it, rather then specifically going to mamoun’s...

"I've had the pleasure of dining at Mamoun's Falafel in SoHo's vibrant village area for over three decades. This iconic eatery, nestled on MacDougal Street, is surrounded by NYU's bustling university and dormitory scene, as well as the picturesque Washington Square.

Mamoun's specializes in mouthwatering Pita Falafel, served with creamy tahini sauce and accompanied by a side of Hummus with warm pita bread. No visit is complete without indulging in their renowned Baklava, a sweet lover's paradise.

Their diverse menu features various falafel options, including meat and chicken, catering to all tastes. While indoor seating is limited, the outdoor area offers ample space to enjoy your meal amidst the lively street atmosphere.

As a native New Yorker, I've frequently brought family and friends to Mamoun's, often lucking into street parking. Regardless of the season, every visit is a delight, making Mamoun's Falafel a timeless NYC treasure."

"Mamoun's Falafel in SoHo is a NYC institution! For 30+ years, I've enjoyed their delicious Pita Falafel, Hummus, and Baklava. Perfect for any season, this vibrant spot is surrounded by NYU and Washington Square. Limited indoor seating, but outdoor area is great. A must-visit for...
