UPDATE:
This is actually my second time here, so far I have not a single complaint to write about . And as a Bangladeshi I feel proud that a Bangladeshi owned business doing such an excellent job running this place.
I came right after my son's graduation ceremony at Barclays. We were all so tired & real hungry. We got lucky that my parents are here to see my son graduation ceremony! And we have no other family here, so I wanted to make my son feel special with all of here together. Also took one of his closest friend with us !
The food was really great, Altho Bangladeshi food are spicy but because of the location I do understand why they have to changed it up a spices! The service was excellent. Very polite, helpful, informative; even my dad was happy with the service!
Because the place is small I did call 10 min before just to make sure we have a seat for 5 people. And at first they were saying it will be tight but I told them it's raining and we had been here at Barclays all day on this heat & my family is tired & hungry. We need to seat down & eat lol. Because there were not much halal restaurants nearby where you actually can seat down . They did made the accommodation & we all much appreciated their efforts !
My son's friend is Mexican & he loved the food . Especially mango lassi, me personally love my regular lassi but I tried some from my son & I gotta say it was delicious. Btw, lol we were so hungry, even me that I forgot to take pictures of the food ! Sorry ..!
We did met the owner & he was such a gentleman! My parents talked with him for a while & he answered all their questions. Much appreciated that!
Btw I forgot to thank you guys for not ran with the flow like other halal restaurants in NY City which serves alcohol! You guys are loosing some money but you still respected our religion & keep it 100 percent Halal. And for that you guys earned our respect!
Keep up the great work. If I am near the area I will definitely be here, rather then anywhere else.
It was a nice experience visiting this cozy tiny place . Decor is nice . Stuff is welcoming & helpful. I have seen lots of takeouts while I was having lunch . The price is reasonable & food tasted great.
I would not have know by the name that it’s a Bangladeshi 🇧🇩owned restaurant & stuff are also from Bangladesh. And yes it’s a halal restaurant. If you are near Atlantic ave in Brooklyn, should...
Read moreThis s my local, and I'm grateful to have an option this good so nearby. It's not a Michelin-starred kind of place nor the equal of long-ago Mina's in Woodside, Queens, where (thanks to them knowing everything about cooking and nothing about restaurant realities) you'd get amazing made to order from scratch meals, if you had an hour to wait.
But after maybe a couple hundred meals from them over the years, I'm telling you this: they're way better than average, with food notably superior to 90-95% of their higher rated local-joint peers. That quality is consistent over time and over the very extensive menu. Flavors are very good; spices are used in the copious quantities appropriate to this cuisine, with fresh curry leaves etc.
Would they be ranked higher if they dumbed those flavors down to "India-lite" as so many places do? No idea if that's the issue, but while 3.8 could be a reasonable rating if we actually reserved 5.0 for the price-no-object best of the best, it's ludicrous when so many mediocre, similarly-priced Indian places throughout the city get a half point more.
An entree with rice is a solid dinner; no need to add a soup or app to have enough food - so the value is solid too. But order via phone or in person to avoid the unfortunate fee for ordering online, which I think is a pretty...
Read moreThis was one of the worst/humiliating racist experiences I’ve had at a restaurant. My friend suggested the place who is of Indian decent. Out of mutual excitement to try the food I agreed. We were seated pretty quickly since the place was basically empty. We observed the waiter quickly refilled her water glass and neglected mines. Not wanting to jump to conclusions I didn’t think anything of it since my glass wasn’t as empty until it happened again; at this point my glass was nearly empty. Finally on the waiters third pass he filled both our glasses and of course mines was noticeably not as full as my friend’s. Due to there being minimal table space while trying to shift around the dishes my fork fell on the ground, one of the waiters then attempted to place the fork back on the table. Then to make matters works while the first waiter cleaned the rice off the ground he was cursing while sweeping. When my friend requested to go plates he returned with one bag and sat it in front of her. She then gave me the bag and requested another. The waiter began to pack her food. Last, if you noticed I had to keep calling him “the waiter”. He never introduced himself and didn’t give us a customer copy of...
