Matchaful @ Clean Market — Restaurant in New York

Went this place twice. They could use some more trainings for their workers at the matcha bar to improve speed and consistency.

What I liked : atmosphere, variety of the menu, soft served matcha ice cream is a huge plus. Storefront staff in black uniforms were all very welcoming and smiling, we felt their attitude very polite and Zen!

When we went there for the first time, a day or two ago in the morning, there were two new workers at the matcha bar. They were apologizing their speed since they said both of them were new. It was slow but we had time so wouldn’t mind because we could see they were trying to make everything perfect so hard.

We ordered matcha latte with oat milk. That was just right. They made it perfect for me. Matcha powder was VERY WELL BLENDED, nothing powdery, very smooth, and plenty of milk and matcha flavor.

One of the girl was mixing the matcha powder soooo well. So smooth.

I was like “OMG WHY WE DID NOT COME HERE SOONER”

What I didn’t like : I visited today for the matcha drink again. OH NO FLAVOR WAS NOT THERE. More watery, and powdery than I tasted the last time.

There were two workers at the matcha bar. They were making drinks together. I guess one of the girl seemed like senior than others. Both of them got involved in my drink.

(I don’t want to blame which person did wrong or things, it’s just if they’re following the same recipe all the time?)

And today’s drink left some powdery texture on my tongue.

FOR THIS, I WOULD NOT COME BACK SINCE IT’S NOTHING EXTRAORDINARY. I could make better matcha drink at home.

The owner and whoever involved in this business must have clear concept of the place. So I’d love to give feedback for them to make the service more consistent for creamy flavorful smooth matcha, then I am willing to come back...

I recently visited Matchaful at Clean Market, and it was such a great experience. I ordered the Matcha + Earth Glow soft serve for $8.50, and it did not disappoint! The texture was super smooth and creamy, and the matcha flavor was rich and earthy without being bitter. The Earth Glow twist added a unique depth and slight sweetness that paired beautifully with the matcha — definitely a well-balanced and refreshing treat.

Beyond the soft serve, they also offer a variety of matcha-based drinks that are just as impressive. I saw a few other customers order iced matcha lattes and ceremonial matcha shots, and everything looked high quality. The staff was also really friendly and helpful when I asked for recommendations.

The space itself is clean and calm, perfect for a quick recharge if you’re shopping nearby or just need a break. If you’re a fan of matcha or just want to try something new and good for you, this place is absolutely worth checking out. I’ll definitely be...

Very creative menu. Many of the items are delicious. However, the quality of drinks is grossly inconsistent. They seem to have high staff turnover, and I don't think they train very well because how the drink tastes really depends on who makes it. I've had a number of major disappointments, including a time when the barista didn't even blend the smoothie properly, so I was left with large deposits of sediment and chunks of cacao in my drink. That is not acceptable, especially when the prices are so high! They also don't track stock well, so there are typically always several items out of stock. A couple of years ago, they offered savory items, including a miso soup that was excellent. However, as they have expanded, they have unfortunately reduced their menu size.
