From the moment you walk in, you’re welcomed by a warm and cozy atmosphere. The restaurant truly feels like a little piece of Greece in NYC.

The service was good. Our server was friendly and recommended the weekly deal which was hard to pass up! For just $30 per person, you get an appetizer, entrée, and dessert.

The avgolemono soup was absolutely phenomenal. Very comforting and perfectly balanced with lemony notes that tied all the flavors together beautifully.

The tyrokroketes started off delicious however, the aftertaste was a bit strong. If kefalotyri was one of the cheeses used, that would explain the sharpness. While not my personal favorite, it was still enjoyable overall and the dip made it much better.

The lamb chops were outstanding, perfectly marinated and full of flavor, paired with fries that were extra crispy and seasoned just right.

Unfortunately, the moussaka was extremely disappointing. Every bite was so bland. The béchamel sauce lacked flavor. I expected at least a hint of nutmeg. The ground beef was unseasoned, and the eggplant felt simply tossed in the casserole rather than properly being fried first, leaving it tasteless. Overall, the dish fell flat and in desperate need of more thoughtful preparation. But I don’t think it reflects the menu as a whole, since the other dishes we ordered were excellent.

As for the baklava, absolutely freaking DELICIOUS!! This is potentially the best baklava I’ve ever had, even better than the Lebanese version. The honey and walnut mix so well with the crunchiness of the pastry. Definitely...

After making a trip to Greece last year, I've been in sort of a Greek food mode. Luckily, I came across Souvlaki GR, which is both decently priced, as well as great tasting.

Located right near the 57th Street station, this is easily accessible by public transportation. A note of caution though. This place is pretty small, so it tends to be packed at most hours. Call in for a reservation if you can, otherwise you'll likely be stuffed in the corner or outside waiting for a table.

As far as decor goes, Souvlaki GR definitely has that Greek vibe to it. With it's blue and white theme, and the picnic tables, it does bring me back to my travels. Now with the food, there were a few highlights. The tzatziki was a pleasant treat. It wasn't overly watery nor pasty, sour, and had that nice hint of dill. Coupled with the nicely toasted and warm pita, you're left satisfied.

For those on the go, I recommend the gyro. At $7-$10, they're more than reasonably priced, and 2 will fill you up. My favorite meats were the lamb and chicken. Lastly, to finish off, you can't leave without an order of loukamades. Essentially they're chewy donut holes with honey drizzled on top. What could possibly go wrong with that choice?

All in all, Souvlaki GR is a great choice for a casual meal. It won't break the bank, and the tastes are...

Ridiculously delicious food w/ huge portions! Go as soon as you can!!! My friends couldn’t finish and I ended up taking my food home. Only caveats were the place felt crammed. It wasn’t crowded necessarily but they can use resetting furniture & it was hot the day we went! A.C wasn’t working or something & fan wasn’t sufficient. But that stuff paled in comparison to how amazing the food was! Great service too 😊!

Mezetes: egg plant, hummus, maybe we got the spicy feta… I loved the fact that we had more than enough pita bread!

Greek fries: predictably yummy We all decided to be basic & got a bunch of meat skewers that were delish & filling

Got one chickpea salad which may have come with more pita and as aforementioned, food could not be finished among 5 (hungry) people!

Ps - They’ve diff locations which may have a diff heat/seating situation! Highly...
