Mexique Cafe — Restaurant in New York

Love this spot! My sister introduced us to one of her favorite South Slope eats and thankfully, it did not disappoint! French cuisine, American fare. Woo Hoo!

After our trip to IKEA, we were starving… so met up with sister & her fam for brunch. What a cute and hidden gem! Cozy space, a few tables outside and an outdoor patio. Love the team and staff here, really nice people, kind and welcoming. The food, wow… they impressed my picky kids… lol

Steak & eggs w/ home fries for the 15 yr old, he loved it! Tender and well seasoned. College kid, husband and me all got their classic burger with caramelized onions but sautéed mushrooms for me; perfect medium, juicy and savory - with crispy fries. What’s not to love?!? It’s great to have a new restaurant near Slope playground. A bit confusing as this restaurant does not serve Mexican food despite its name. I had dinner here and got a surprisingly delicious steak frite- and have had lunch on one occasion. I do wish the menu changed a bit more and I hope more ppl frequent this place as it’s often empty. One star off as they only have 2 very basic items on the kids menu (chicken tenders and butter pasta). If this place catered to kids more I would def come By before or after the playground. Servers were very attentive and super nice and even remembered the regulars names. All def Come back and try other things...

Absolutely perfect high-quality French food, in a lovely classic cafe atmosphere. The prices are very reasonable for the quality. We had coq au vin and mussels and some very good wines, including a Bordeaux from the Medoc -- something I rarely see on a wine list. I live nearby and walk past here nearly every day but did not even realize it was a French restaurant. There's no obvious sign with the name, just some hard-to-see lettering on the window. They rarely post on Instagram. I worry that no one knows what's here -- just as we didn't! I hope neighbors will support this -- it's literally...
