Ummm, Mikey, you did that! I’ve seen Mikey Likes It for some time now. I’ve seen people mention it on social media, as well as news outlets. Add the fact that it’s black-owned, and that was more than enough for me to ease on down to meet Mikey and to also....see what he likes lol (Sorry, I had to).
So Mikey Likes It is a small, cute, humble shop, that offers fun, unique flavors of ice cream. First off, I LOVE the decor of all the different celebrities/tv characters/musicians! It’s so fun and nostalgic. It suits the vibes and feels of the shop. Very well done. So, I went in to see which flavors I wanted to try, and unfortunately, they were out of a few of the flavors that really caught my eye. Even still, there were some fun, intriguing flavors to choose from. I ended up choosing two. The first flavor being the Truffle Shuffle, that’s made up of milk chocolate ice cream, chocolate chips, and yes girl, chocolate covered marshmallows. This was a tasty flavor. I taste the quality of the ice cream right away. It tasted fresh, and not overly rich. The next flavor I tried was the Pink Floyd, which was my favorite of the two. The Pink Floyd consists of strawberry ice cream, with cheesecake chunks! I’m usually not even big into fruit-flavored ice creams, but there was something different about this one. I mean, aside from the chunks of cheesecake, which I loved, the strawberry ice cream itself, was just effin delicious! What can I say?!
I was excited to finally get to Mikey’s. Apparently, I need to get back for Mikey’s after hours, to try their spirit-infused ice creams! It’s a...
Read moreTerrible service!! I placed an order on 9/22 for local delivery to be sent to my little cousin for her birthday and she never received it. The next day I realized I didn’t get a delivery confirmation so I contacted them via email and didn’t hear back. On 9/24 I called and was told they were very backed up and my order would go out for delivery that Sunday. It was ridiculous for a food order but I wanted to be understanding and support a small business. That Saturday I received a call and text telling me my order was being delivered and to meet them downstairs. I called back and explained that the order was for a family member and I provided the code they needed to ring the apt. I figured they were able to deliver it but to be sure I texted my cousin asking if she received it and she said no. I call back MLI and the woman on the phone tells me my order wasn’t in the bag and that my order was delivered the day before which was totally incorrect because I already asked my cousin if she received the order and she said no. I asked the woman to cancel my order and to have her boss call me and she said she would but I never got a call or a refund. I’ve spent so much time trying to get my order that I’ve given up. The sad thing is I really liked their ice cream and I try to support small businesses but they’re customer service and delivery is awful. I wouldn’t...
Read moreAs some of the other reviewers, I wanted to support this local, Black business as I read an article about it in the winter and decided to give them a try yesterday on my birthday (8/26). I was very moved by the description of the owner and his vision!! I was highly disappointed, however. The service was very slow to start. There was one young man working who got on the phone to call someone and let them know that "he doesn't usually work there, he's alone and doesn't know where nothing is", while still trying to handle clients. I felt his pain however this was a conversation to be had in the back room, not in front of willing customers. Secondly, money handling and serving the desserts with ungloved hands was a turn off. Coming all the way from Queens, I toughed it out, I had come to far to turn back now, lol. Lastly, I opted for the $5 single scoop and it was the most pathetic single scoop I'd ever gotten. The ice cream itself was tasty but I will never pay $5 for a measly scoop like that. It was as if the young man was focused on his pressing matter, which again I understood, but if you choose to stay open and take our money, I expect better service and a healthier scoop. I don't think I will travel from Queens again to visit this place, but if Im in the area, maybe I'll pass by and peep the scene and if it's looking proper I'll...
