East Village Barbershop — Local services in New York

After trying out a handful of "top barbershops" in Manhattan, I finally came across East Village Barbershop.

I've only had my hair cut with Lana and one other gentleman whose name I unfortunately don't know.

Lana is fantastic! She listens and produces exactly what I request. She takes her time, minding the details, turning a simple haircut into a great haircut! I don't ask for anything extravagant. Just a fade or short all around. But she makes my hair look great. Honestly, probably the best looking fade I've ever gotten anywhere! I've tried a few "top" shops in Manhattan and have been thoroughly disappointed.

When you walk in you are greeted by all the barbers. Everyone is in good spirits. You are asked if you would like your hair washed, which I have yet to partake in. And you are asked if you would like a complimentary beer, which also I have yet to partake in.

The whole staff is very warm and friendly. Reuben is a great owner as he interacts with everyone. He asks everyone's name. Tries to get to know you. He has a great big sense of humor and he will definitely joke with you. So if you're shy, be ready to interact a little. I'm a little shy myself but I appreciate the lively atmosphere. The best feeling in the world is walking out of this barber shop after getting a flawless cut. I have referred everyone I know to this particular shop. It is one of a kind. My friend and I had just moved into the east village just a couple of months ago and we were on the hunt for a barber shop. We walked around the area checking out multiple barber shops. To see if they were good, we waited around until finished customers came out. After seeing a few shops that did not meet our standards (which are extremely high), we finally spotted the East Village Barbershop. I moved from Atlanta to New York about a year and half ago and walked in East Village barbershop with my friend from Atlanta. Best decision I have ever made have not gone anywhere since them. When he went back to Atlanta everyone wanted to go to the barbershop where he got his cut from. Fortunately for me I live in New York and come frequently it's not just a cut it's an experience that you will never find at any other barbershop. Starting with the hair wash, the feeling I got was more than that it was more of a feeling of a scalp massage.
