I ordered a 15 person cake for a wedding celebration dinner following my ceremony at city hall.
Pros: The vanilla and strawberry jam cake is DELICIOUS. I love their carrot cake as well but my wife preferred vanilla. The cakes are beautifully decorated. I felt I could reliably order and expect a cake supreceding expectation.
Cons: They do not deliver cakes for less than 50 people..this made coordinating delivery extremely frustrating. They suggested using a Uber and coordinating with the driver to “put the cake on a flat service, avoid bumps, and to have the Ac on night” but they could not guarantee the cake to arrive untainted. Given, it was only about a 20 minute drive during the afternoon from alphabet city to the most northern aspect of Dumbo right over the Manhattan bridge. All of my family members came from 2 hours away and our parents were driving elderly incontinent folks who, quite frankly, need some TLC. Multiple stops to the restroom, and a hasty drive. My sister and law couldn’t come to city hall because she was the only one left that could pick up the cake AND she drove into the Manhattan and had to bring it to Brooklyn. She brought two infants with her on a 95 degree day. I wish that From Lucie offered delivery for an extra fee. I would have gladly paid. I know it’s not a 50 person tierd cake but it was a very large half sheet cake with fresh flowers all across the top and periphery that needed careful handling. Not only that, it was a $300 dollar cake.. I could at least somewhat justify the price because of its high quality. I did feel the suggested half sheet cake was a very large suggestion for 15 people. We served 16 slices and have about 50% left..
Overall I was very pleased with the cake but unfortunately so dissatisfied with the delivery (which is a big part of customer service for such an expensive cake). I don’t know if I would order again for a big event.. but I would consider it for a smaller group of people...

Food: From Lucie is renowned for its exquisite cakes, each adorned with delicate floral designs that make them almost too beautiful to eat. The Victoria Sponge Cake, featuring raspberry rose jam and vanilla bean, is a standout. The sponge is light and airy, perfectly complemented by the sweet yet subtle jam and creamy vanilla bean filling. It’s a harmonious blend of flavors that dance on the palate.
Service: The staff at From Lucie exude warmth and friendliness, making every visit feel like a special occasion. They’re attentive and eager to guide you through their selection, ensuring you find the perfect treat to satisfy your cravings.
Ambiance: While the interior space is cozy and intimate, it adds to the bakery’s charm. The mustard yellow exterior is inviting, and inside, the decor reflects Lucie Franc de Ferriere’s French countryside roots, with thoughtful touches that make the space feel like a home away from home.
In summary, From Lucie offers a delightful experience that marries exceptional baked goods with genuine hospitality. Whether you’re a local or just passing through, it’s a must-visit spot for anyone with a...
Read moreMy husband bought my birthday cake from Lucie two years in a row - the first time in 2022 when she arranged for pick-up behind a Chinese restaurant in lower Manhattan, and then again in 2023 from her store, which is when we noticed the quality of the cake had gone down significantly - the frosting and cake itself was super hard like it had just been taken out of the freezer.
However, the main reason I am giving Lucie one star is because she twice lied to her customers, who chose to donate their money to her to help her open a store, which she promised them a tote bag in return.
She not only never gave us a tote bag, which was promised over a year ago on her Kickstarter, but she again lied when I reached out to her via instagram and tried to blame the delay on her poor designer instead of taking personal responsibility. She also couldn't even make the second deadline she gave me for a tote bag arrival - which was January/February 2024. Even more disrespectful - she had been ignoring my husband's emails, who has been reaching out politely asking for any updates on the bags.
It is clear she has no respect or appreciation for her customers, and her lack of hospitality, as well as the decline in taste of her products, reflects that. Screenshots showing her own given deadline, which she did not...
