I booked a new client appt with Lindsey because my usual salon was all booked and Fox and Jane had good reviews. I’m extremely confused by the good reviews because I had a terrible experience. For the color, my hair basically looks the same as when I walked in there but with a few brighter, badly blended highlights (see her version of a ā€˜tip out’ in one of the pics). Once she finished applying the foils she said she would be back in 30 min to wash it out. She did not come back in 30min to check. 45 minutes goes by and the stylist walks in the front door with her tote bag like she left the place to go to the bodega or something. For the cut, she spent less than 20 min trimming the ends, thinning out the back, and giving me some layers. It seemed like she thinned out an incredible amount which is fine and what I asked for, but before she took the apron off to finish I noticed a clump of hair dangling from my ends. I noticed it and looked at her and thought she would grab it but didn’t, so I pulled it off and went to the front to get rung up. As she was ringing me up she stopped and leaned over the counter and was like ā€œoh let me get that there’s some hair hanging off youā€ and grabs more hair. Once I got out the door, I ran my fingers through my hair and grabbed a clump of hair (what’s in the pic). I was pretty embarrassed standing on the sidewalk pulling hair off my head. The entire walk to the train I was pulling more loose hair off. I couldn’t believe that she didn’t bother to brush my hair through or anything before I left. It felt like she didn’t care about the quality of my hair or experience at all. For the service: she was incredibly heavy handed. I have a sensitive scalp so I’m used to a few uncomfortable moments here and there, but with this stylist, the washing, the cutting, the blow drying, all was pretty miserable and I was waiting to get out of there. All in all, it was a pretty rough experience and after spending over $500 (service + tip) I won’t be coming back. I really can’t believe that $500 gets you a pretty poor experience.

I can't even begin to express how incredible my experience at Fox & Jane was, thanks to Kristin, my senior stylist. First off, let me just say—this is hands down the best haircut I've ever had. I'm not even kidding. Kristin is like a hair scientist, combining her extensive knowledge of texture, cutting techniques, and styling with a personalized touch that left me absolutely thrilled with the result. Not only did she give me an amazing haircut and blowout, but she also took the time to teach me exactly how to style and care for my hair at home. She shared pro tips and product recommendations that actually make a difference. The confidence boost I got from walking out of that salon with not only a great haircut but also the skills to maintain it? Priceless. Kristin is a total gem—kind, warm, and genuine. She truly listens to what you want and takes the time to make sure you're comfortable and happy throughout the entire process. I honestly can't wait for my next appointment. If you're looking for someone who truly understands hair and how to make it work for YOU, Kristin at Fox & Jane is your go-to stylist. I’m obsessed

Are you looking for a hair goddess who is detail oriented, talented, sweet, and magical? Look no further than HELEN at Fox and Jane! I went in with like 20 inspo pics and she helped me figure out what would look best on me. It didn't turn out exactly like my inspo pic... because it turned out way better! She explained every single thing she was planning to do before she did it, explained why she thought it would look better, and I #trusted her because of her great reviews and kind personality. SO GLAD I DID! It's way more natural-looking and flattering on me than the inspo pic and most important to me - will grow out beautifully, which she heard and worked accordingly. She is also just personally a delight. I usually don't talk much in the chair but I had the best time chatting with her like she was my sister I never had. I've been looking for a trusted and talented hair dresser in NYC for years since my previous one moved away. I have found her <3

Helen is a fantastic stylist. I've seen her thrice now - a creative colour, a touch-up, and a hair cut. The creative colour (bleach highlights which were then dyed purple) - she was very thorough in explaining the process, going through sample photos with me, and really just making sureI knew exactly what I was getting into and that I was getting the exact colour and style that I truly wanted. She even had me sign a waiver when she discovered I'd used box colour on my roots - because she wasn't sure how the box colour would react with the bleaching. Luckily everything went well, but I appreciated her explaining every single step of the process so I was uber informed. Even better - two months since the purple was added to my hair, it's still looking amazing! I really expected it to have all disappeared but it's fading so wonderfully.

The touch-up - she fixed a few greys that were missed during the epic creative colour session and also fixed a bit of hair that hadn't taken the purple colour. On the house, and she squeezed me in so I could have everything perfect as soon as possible. I really appreciated how she went above and beyond to make sure I was 100% satisfied with the outcome of our time together.

And most recently, my hair cut. WHICH WAS AMAZING. Unfortunately I'm mixed-blessed with thick hair, which meant an "advanced haircut." But boy did she give me the full treatment. I wanted to go shorter and I'm always terrified that I'll end up with a boxy bob due to the amount of hair I have - but she talked through the style options with me and we came to the perfect understanding. She trimmed, razored, thinned my hair beautifully and I'm so pleased with the results. It's chic bob that is super easy to style and volumize. It doesn't look boxy or heavy and it's just super, super fun. I'm blown away by how perfect it is - and she taught me how to easily style it so I'm ready to go!

Helen is also always super thoughtful and messages me a day or two after an appointment to make sure I 100%, completely love my style. It's really refreshing that she takes so much pride in her work and that she takes pride in YOU loving her work.

Highly recommend Helen - and the whole salon. Honestly every time I'm in there it's full of friendly stylists and the overall vibe is really warm. I don't think you can go wrong with...

I went in to Fox and Jane for a full head highlight appointment. At the beginning of my appointment I said I also needed my dead ends trimmed. My hairdresser said that was fine and she could do that. However, at the end of my appointment when I went to pay, the total ended up being significantly more than I had expected. The highlights were supposed to be and were $255, but an additionally $104 was added on for the ā€œcut and hairstyle.ā€ My issue is that I can’t afford a $104 haircut. When I asked for a trim, I wasn’t made aware it would add anything to the price, especially given i had only asked for a small quick trim. I made the mistake of assuming it wouldn’t cost more, but every other salon i’ve been to has included a trim when they dye hair, that’s just part of it (and to be honest…why wouldn’t it be??) I felt there was a complete lack of transparency from my hairdresser. $104 is a weeks worth of groceries, and i am a broke college student living in nyc. The $255 plus the $50 tip for the highlights was what I saved up for. I’m mad at myself for not speaking up, and mad at my hairdresser for not telling me how much a ā€œtrimā€ would cost (especially knowing it was my first time at this establishment). I like my how my hair turned, but i feel scammed. Unfortunately I will not be...
