Moondog HiFi — Restaurant in New York

Absolutely beautiful space! However, there were a few things that were off. The service was sort of absent as they were consistently going into back rooms that we couldn’t flag them down in, then when they were going from one room to another, we couldn’t even get eye contact. It was a very quiet evening with one or two other tables filled. We wanted someone’s attention for two reasons: our food order was wrong, but also we were interested in trying more items off their menu. Instead, it took so long to get someone that we decided to just grab the check and leave. I unfortunately did not love their version of an espresso martini that I got, but that could be my personal preference. mid! was stoked to see a dj I love spin some vinyl but i got the ick and had to leave. i'll be back and will update this review, the sound system is fantastic and vibes were cool enough but the bartenders seemed . . . unfocused? the service took forever for no reason, it wasn't that busy. kept thinking like damn I could run circles around the pair of them. worst part was just like no acknowledgement of presence, and I mean come on that's the floor if you're tending bar. like at least hit me with a "hey how we doin be with ya in a sec" felt completely invisible and unwelcome. staff up a barback or just lock in people! too good lookin of a joint for the service to be so off. Went recently with a buddy of mine, and was really blown away by Moondog Hifi. The space is incredible, as is the impeccable sound system and outstanding music selection. The food is incredible, full stop. The menu is a unique blend of cultures and flavors, artfully designed by Chef Einat Admoni. That said, it's a damn good meal for a great price, and its uniqueness, or artfulness, doesn't overshadow that elemental thing some places tend to forget. On top of all that, the service was top notch. The staff were so kind and timely, and I left feeling quite taken care of. I believe Owner Elon (who was awesome btw) plans to make some additions to the space, and I can't wait to see what comes next. Whatever more of Moondog looks like, that can only be...
