Tomahawk has been my salon for cut, creative color, corrections etc. since maybe 2011 or 12?! So grateful for a consistent and community-oriented local salon. Kristin is the amazing colorist who has been there since the salon opened, and is great at walking first time color and blonde clients of all ages through what to expect. They give the best advice for maintenance and affordable products. You’re not going to get a better rate for service at an NYC salon. Kristin used to do hair for TV shows and pop stars, and the entire team is wonderful to cover girls, gays and guys’ haircut, color and toning needs. Thanks to Chantal for years of good management and friendly service too! Not to be forgotten, Kristin Jackson also makes custom extensions. Kristin does BEAUTIFUL work. I screwed up my own hair more than once and Kristin was able to bring my color back to life. Pictured here is my hair right after I had it done and a few months later when it had faded and grown out a little. Even through the grow out phase it looked lovely. I attended a wedding right after she did my hair the first time and I recieved sooo many compliments, even from total strangers because she did my balayage JUST right. From now on this salon and Kristin are the only people touching my hair.

Was looking for a fresh look after recovering from cancer treatment. Donna Rae was amazing. She listened to what I was going for, looked at pics I brought, then showed me her vision & explained it. The location itself is very welcoming & comfortable. I am pleased with the end result & and I am looking forward to evolving my look with Donna Rae in the future.

Where do I begin?! I've been coming to Kristin since I moved back to NY ~7 years ago and I've never looked back! She has taken my hair from purple to turquoise to gorgeous icy blonde, all while IMPROVING the health of my hair. One thing I really love about Kristin is that she's so transparent -- she'll never do anything that will damage your hair, but if what you want isn't possible, she'll work with you to give you the closest thing or to get you there gradually over time. Chantal and Kristin have created a beautiful safe space that I love coming to every time, not to mention the added bonus of supporting a POC, queer owned business! Love you...

I've been getting my hair cut by Kristin Jackson at Tomahawk Salon for over 15 years, and I wouldn’t dream of going anywhere else. Kristin’s attention to detail, skill, and consistency are unmatched. She knows exactly how to make you look your best every time.
