Unfortunately I had a very disappointing experience here today with the person closing. I came in at 4:50pm (4/19/21) not realizing this place was closed, because it was fairly early in the day and I had never been there. As I walked in and greeted the girl working, she informed me that they were closed. (Which is fine! I just didnât know. Because of the time of day, the door being unlocked and seeing someone behind the counter, it looked open as I was passing by, so I decided to stop in).
I think normally the interaction could have, and should have, just ended there, with her informing me that they were closed and me apologizing for the misunderstanding and leaving. Instead she chose to add angrily âThe hours are on the sign.â I never argued with her about leaving, nor gave her any attitude about being closed. I had apologized and was already on my way out when she said that.
It was a very clear passive aggressive jab, basically implying âcanât you read?â (Also this sign she was referring to was at an odd angle and on the other side of the shop that I didnât walk past, so there was no way I could have seen it from the direction I came in from.)
I get that being in customer service is hard. Iâve done it for the last 4 years, and had I been rude initially I would have understood. But I wasnât rude, and as someone whoâs worked in similar capacities, I think taking out whatever general job frustration you have on a customer who was not rude to you just because they made an honest mistake about the cafe being open is...
Read moreWhat a lovely coffee bar/espresso lab right off Seventh Avenue in the North Slope. I enjoyed a regular latte, which was steaming hot and prepared in a caring way. I love their offerings of wellness lattes, referred to by color, red, blue, black, green, gold, in a full range of tasty flavors. The turmeric latte is one of my favorites. Some of the other flavors are cardamom, reishi, matcha, sweet potato, ginger. Iâm deeply impressed by the owners strive for an environmentally conscious approach to coffee drinking, keeping plastic items to an absolute minimum (plastic lids), and instead, using bamboo disposables and porcelain cups and saucers. The interior is lovingly designed to bring comfort and warmth, integrating wooden table tops, recycled furniture, and cozy seat warmers into the cafĂŠ layout. And yes, they also offer breakfast pastries and sweet...

The coffee here is possibly the best coffee Iâve had. If anyone would like to understand the definition of SMOOOOOTH, itâs in a ânerd be coolâ cup of coffee... simply beyond delicious. Vegan choices are available, from oat milk to bakery items...yummy,
This cafe is all around beautiful, filled with delicious art/decor and I love the general celebration of all things nerd. The atmosphere is uplifting, inviting, and just plain beautiful. The staff is just excellent. Great seating, clean comfortable, and charming side street in Park Slope. 5+ stars ... if there were a restroom.
Positive side to lack of rest room is, if there was one I would spend an exorbitant amount of...
