We stopped into Omakase Shihou (also referred to as Omakase Shiro) for their lunch omakase, tucked away on the second floor of Tenzan, a Japanese restaurant. The intimate space, clad in light wood, sets the perfect tone for a relaxed and refined experience.
The lunch omakase is an incredible value at just $49, including an appetizer, nine pieces of sushi, miso soup, and dessert. We opted to elevate the experience with the $25 add-on, which featured an oyster shooter, A5 wagyu, and a toro hand roll. Each of us also enjoyed a glass of sake for $18. While the base omakase alone is a treat—beautifully presented and absolutely delicious—the add-on is highly recommended.
Every piece of sushi was fresh, artfully prepared, and included a few delightful surprises. The ikura, which I don’t typically enjoy, was so exceptional I ordered an extra—truly a testament to the quality. No spoilers here—you’ll want to experience it for yourself.
The meal concluded with a comforting akamiso soup and a refreshing matcha mochi dessert topped with arare, a perfectly balanced finish to a memorable lunch. It was a wonderful prelude to an afternoon at The Met.
We’d absolutely return to Omakase Shiro—excellent service, serene ambiance, and exceptional food from...
Read moreI'm giving this 5 stars based on the price point--for $65 their standard omakase menu is an exceptional value and the quality of the fish was fantastic. For $65 you get two appetizers, 10 pieces of nigiri, aged miso and dessert. The opening appetizer was unbelievably delicious and beautifully presented-- served in a bowl, it included King Salmon, Ikura which had been marinated in brown sugar, wagyu, and rice. Other standouts were the King Salmon served aburi style and garnished with a number of flavorful accents and the Otoro with caviar. Sea bream, scallop, snapper, tuna, Spanish mackeral, and ikura nigiri were also served. The ikura, because of the brown sugar, practically tastes like candy. The desert, matcha mochi with little crispy rice accents was the perfect note to end the meal on. And the service was excellent--the waitress and chef were thoughtful, attentive, pleasant and addressed the origin and preparation of each piece served. Highly recommend for their fresh, inventive and affordable omakase-- and hope to...
Read moreWhat an amazing Omakase experience in NYC! From the ambience, service and quality of the food- it’s 5 star. After checking out few reviews, I was still doubting if this omakase would be worth it. So glad we came to experience this restaurant.
There is $95 menu and $ 115 premium menu. 4 appetizers and 10 sushi, hand roll, miso soup and dessert were included. We went with premium menu and added extra: A5 wagyu, truffle and uni plus Toro hand roll.
Tuna appetizer, oyster shooter w uni, hamachi were wonderful starters. Loved uni and ikura mini donburi. Smoked flavor was infused. Out of all 10 pc sushi, I loved Toro with truffled caviar, scallop and ebi. Hokkaido Uni was so sweet and amazing.
Our server Abbie was so professional and friendly and made our dining experience exceptional. Mochi dessert was simple and delicious. After this meal, I planned trip to go Kyoto and Osaka to taste authentic omakase. Great for special occasion or date night. Highly...
